PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin effectively usable as a cross-liking agent for a topcoat or a clear coating material composition, by synthesizing an amino resin based on a polyfunctional amino compound. SOLUTION: This cross-linking agent contains one or more carbamate groups or one or more groups convertible into the carbamate groups and one or more polyfunctional amino sites represented by the formula (L is selected from among a 1-6C alkyl, an aryl, a cycloalkyl and an alkylaryl and, at need, contains an additional cross-linking group such as an ester or an ether; N is the polyfunctional amino sites; R is H, a 1-6C alkyl or a cycloalkyl). The cross- linking agent is combined with an amino polymer having >1 groups reactive with an aminoplast resin, a substance or a carbamate group to provide the topcoat or clear coating material composition.

Abstract:
A curable coating composition is described comprising two components that are reactive with one another upon curing to form urethane linkages. The composition further comprises a third component that includes one or more epoxide groups. Coatings prepared with this coating composition can be cured and coated with additional coating(s), providing good intercoat adhesion to the subsequent coating.
