Abstract: The invention relates to a process for decomposing nitrous oxide from a gas stream (1). comprising: (a) heating the gas stream (1) and splitting the gas stream (1) into at least two partial streams (3, 5) or splitting the gas stream (1) into at least two partial streams (3, 5) and heating the partial streams (3, 5): (b) feeding each of the partial streams (3, 5) into a separate decomposition reactor, wherein each reactor (31) comprises a catalyst: (c) decomposing the nitrous oxide into nitrogen and oxygen in the decomposition reactors to obtain purified streams (13, 15): (d) optionally feeding each purified stream (13, 15) into a unit (11) for decomposing nitrogen dioxide and/or nitrogen monoxide or combining at least two purified streams (13, 15) and feeding the combined purified streams into a unit (11) for decomposing nitrogen dioxide and/or nitrogen monoxide, wherein the catalysts of the decomposition reactors (31) are changed alternatingly and wherein one of the catalysts is changed when the arithmetic mean of the lifetime of the catalysts in the other reactors has reached 25 to 75% of the lifetime of one catalyst.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for hydrogenating a mixture (G1) in the presence of a catalyst, where the mixture (G1) comprises at least one colorless amine and at least one color-imparting component. As a result of the hydrogenation step, the at least one color-imparting component is firstly partially, preferably fully, hydrogenated, while the colorless amine, in particular aniline, is not hydrogenated or hydrogenated to only a very small extent. The color-imparting components which cause the discoloration of the amine which is itself in principle colorless are thus removed by hydrogenation, as a result of which purification of the colorless amine or the mixture (G1) is achieved.

Abstract: A process for preparing trans-enriched MDACH, including: distilling an MDACH starting mixture in the presence of an auxiliary, which is an organic compound having a molar mass of 62 to 500 g/mol, a boiling point at least 5° C. above the boiling point of cis,cis-2,6-diamino-1-methylcyclohexane, and 2 to 4 functional groups, each of which is independently an alcohol group or a primary, secondary or tertiary amino group. The MDACH starting mixture includes 0 to 100% by weight of 2,4-MDACH and 0 to 100% by weight of 2,6-MDACH, based on the total amount of MDACH present in the MDACH starting mixture. The MDACH starting mixture includes both trans and cis isomers. Trans-enriched MDACH includes 0 to 100% by weight of 2,4-MDACH and 0 to 100% by weight of 2,6-MDACH, where the proportion of trans isomers in the mixture is higher than the proportion of trans isomers in the MDACH starting mixture.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing cyclohexane from methylcyclopentane (MCP) and benzene. In the context of the present invention, MCP and benzene are constituents of a hydrocarbon mixture (HM1) additionally comprising dimethylpentanes (DMP), possibly cyclohexane and possibly at least one compound (low boiler) selected from acyclic C5-C6-alkanes and cyclopentane. First of all, benzene is converted in a hydrogenation step to cyclohexane (that present in the hydrocarbon mixture (HM2)), while MCP is isomerized in the presence of a catalyst, preferably of an acidic ionic liquid, to cyclohexane. After the hydrogenation but prior to the isomerization the dimethylpentanes (DMP) are removed, with initial removal of the cyclohexane present in the hydrocarbon mixture (HM2) together with DMP. This cyclohexane already present prior to the isomerization can be separated again from DMP in a downstream rectification step and isolated and/or recycled into the process for cyclohexane preparation. Between the DMP removal and MCP isomerization—if low boilers are present in the hydrocarbon mixture (HM1)—low boilers are, optionally removed. After the isomerization, the cyclohexane is isolated, optionally with return of unisomerized MCP and optionally of low boilers. Preferably, cyclohexane and/or low boilers are present in the hydrocarbon mixture (HM1), and so a low boiler removal is preferably conducted between the DMP removal from isomerization. It is additionally preferable that the removal of the cyclohexane from DMP is additionally conducted, meaning that the cyclohexane component which arises in the benzene hydrogenation and may be present in the starting mixture (HM1) is isolated and hence recovered.
