    Abstract: Process for making a particulate (oxy)hydroxide of TM wherein TM represents metals and TM comprises at least 75 mol-% nickel and wherein said process comprises the steps of: (a) providing an aqueous solution (α) containing a water-soluble salt of nickel and of one metal selected from cobalt and manganese, and further in the range of from 0.05 to 3.0 mol-% of a compound of at least one metal selected from Ti, Zr, Mg and Nb, and in the range of from 0.05 to 2.0 mol-%, referring to TM, of an α- or β-hydroxy carboxylic acid or ascorbic acid or of an amino acid selected from glycine, alanine and serine, or their alkali metal salts, and an aqueous solution (β) containing an alkali metal hydroxide and, optionally, an aqueous solution (γ) containing ammonia, (b) combining a solution (α) and a solution (β) and, if applicable, a solution (γ) at a pH value in the range of from 11.0 to 13.0 in a stirred tank reactor, thereby creating solid particles of a hydroxide containing nickel, said solid particles being slurried.

    Abstract: Process for making a particulate (oxy)hydroxide of TM wherein TM comprises nickel wherein said process comprises the steps of: (a) Providing an aqueous solution (α) containing water-soluble salts of Ni and of at least one transition metal selected from Co and Mn, and, optionally, at least one further metal selected from Ti, Zr, Mo, W, Al, Mg, Nb, and Ta, and an aqueous solution (β) containing an alkali metal hydroxide and, optionally, an aqueous solution (γ) containing ammonia, (b) combining a solution (α) and a solution (β) and, if applicable, a solution (γ) at a pH value in the range of from 12.0 to 13.0, thereby creating solid particles of hydroxide containing nickel, (c) continuing combining solutions (α) and (β) and, if applicable, (γ) at a pH value in the range of from 9.0 to 12.0 and in any way below the pH value in step (b), (d) adding a solution (α) and a solution (β) and, if applicable, a solution (γ) at a pH value in the range of from 12.0 to 12.7 and in any way above the pH value in step (c), (e) continuing combining such solutions (α) and (β) and, if applicable, (γ) at a pH value in the range of from 9.0 to 12.0 and in any way below the pH value in step (d), wherein step (d) has a duration in the range of from rt-0.01 to rt-0.15 and wherein rt is the average residence time of the reactor in which steps (b) to (e) are carried out.

    Abstract: Process for making a particulate (oxy)hydroxide of TM wherein TM represents a combination of metals, and wherein TM comprises nickel and at least one metal selected from cobalt and aluminum and manganese, wherein said process comprises the steps of: (a) combining an aqueous slurry of metallic nickel and at least one metal selected from aluminum and transition metals other than nickel with an oxidant selected from oxygen and nitrate in a first reaction vessel or in a first group of reaction vessels at a temperature of from 5° to 40°C, (b) transferring aqueous reaction medium from the first reaction vessel to a second reaction vessel, wherein said second reaction vessel contains a slurry of a hydroxide of TM, wherein the pH value in step (b) is higher than in step (a) and the temperature is in the range of from 45° to 80°C, thereby forming and growing particles of hydroxide of TM, (c) removing the particles from step (b) from the liquid by a solid-liquid separation method, and drying the particles, (d) returning liquid phase obtained in step (c) to the first reaction vessel.

    Abstract: Process for making a particulate (oxy)hydroxide or carbonate or oxide of TM wherein TM com-prises nickel and at least one metal selected from cobalt and manganese and aluminum where-in said process comprises the steps of:(a) Providing an aqueous solution (α1) containing a water-soluble salt of Ni and an aqueoussolution (α2) containing a water-soluble salt of Co or an aqueous solution (α3) containinga water-soluble salt of Mn or an aqueous solution (α4) containing a water-soluble com-pound of Al, and an aqueous solution (β) containing an alkali metal hydroxide or car-bonate and, optionally, an aqueous solution (γ) containing ammonia or an organic acidor its alkali metal salt,(b) combining solution (α1) and solution (β) and at least one of solutions (α2) or (α3) or (α4),and, if applicable, solution (γ), in a continuous reactor, thereby creating solid particles ofa hydroxide or carbonate of TM, wherein such solutions are introduced into said contin-uous reactor in different locations,(c) removing the particles from step (b) from the liquid by a solid-liquid separation method.
