Disclosed are liquid compositions comprising a) a compound of formula (I) and b) a compound of formula (II) where R is hydrogen or methyl, n and n' are independently an integer from 1 to 45 and R1, R2 and R3 are each independently hydrogen, straight or branched chain alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, phenylalkyl of 7 to 9 carbon atoms, phenylalkyl of 7 to 9 carbon atoms substituted on the phenyl ring by one to three straight or branched chain alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms or R1, R2 and R3 are each independently -(CH2 ) k -COOR 4 where k is 0, 1 or 2 and R4 is hydrogen or straight or branched chain alkyl of 1 to 20 carbon atoms. The compositions comprising oxyalkylene bridged bis-and tris-phosphite esters of formulae I and II are liquid at ambient conditions and are effective stabilizers for polyolefins.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of specific sterically hindered nitroxyl ethers from their corresponding sterically hindered nitroxyl radicals by reacting it with an aldehyde and a hydroperoxide. This nitroxyl ether formation may be carried out from different starting nitroxyl radicals, which are subsequently further reacted to the desired compounds. The compounds prepared by this process are effective as stabilizers for polymers against harmful effects of light, oxygen and/or heat and as flame-retardants for polymers.

Un proceso para la preparación de un nitroxil éter estéricamente impedido de fórmula (I) o (II) **(Ver fórmula)** en donde N4-amina es n es un número de 1 a 10 y R1 es alquilo C1-C5; que incluye en el caso del nitroxil éter estéricamente impedido de fórmula (I) las etapas de a) reacción de un compuesto de fórmula (Ia) con n-hexilaldehído, n-pentilaldehído, n-butiraldehído, n-propilaldehído o acetaldehído y un peróxido de hidrógeno en presencia de un catalizador metálico; o b1) reacción de un compuesto de fórmula (Ib) **(Ver fórmula)** con n-hexilaldehído, n-pentilaldehído, n-butiraldehído, n-propilaldehído o acetaldehído o una mezcla de dichos aldehídos con sus respectivos alcoholes y un peróxido de hidrógeno en presencia de un catalizador metálico para producir un compuesto de fórmula (Ic) **(Ver fórmula)** que reacciona además para formar un compuesto de fórmula (I); que comprende en el caso del nitroxil éter estéricamente impedido de fórmula (II) a) la reacción de un compuesto de fórmula (IIa) o (IIb) **(Ver fórmula)** con un compuesto de fórmula (100) o (200) **(Ver fórmula)** y un peróxido de hidrógeno en presencia de un catalizador metálico para producir un compuesto de fórmula (IIc), (IId), (IIe) o (IIf) **(Ver fórmula)** que reaccionan además para formar un compuesto de fórmula (II).
