    Abstract: Method for producing tertiary phosphines by reacting a compound of the general formula (I) in which A is R 1 or L 2 , B is R 2 or L 3 , the R 1 and R 2 radicals are each independently an organic radical having in each case from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, where the R 1 and R 2 radicals may also be joined together; and the leaving groups L 1 to L 3 are each independently halogen, alkyloxy having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or aryloxy having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms (a) with an alkali metal in an organic aprotic solvent and (b) a compound of the general formula (II) L 4 -R 3 (II) in which the R 3 radical is an organic radical having in each case from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; and the leaving group L 4 is halogen, alkyloxy having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or aryloxy having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms, in which the resulting reaction mixture is hydrolyzed with an aqueous base which has a pH of >= 10 and the organic phase is removed from the aqueous phase.

    Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de fosfinas terciarias, mediante la reacción de un compuesto de la fórmula general (I) (Ver fórmula) en la que A significa R 1 o L 2 , B significa R 2 o L 3 , significando los restos R 1 y R 2 , de manera independiente entre sí, un resto orgánico con, respectivamente, 1 hasta 30 átomos de carbono, pudiendo estar también enlazados entre sí los restos R 1 y R 2 ; y significando los grupos disociables L 1 hasta L 3 , de manera independiente entre sí, halógeno, alquiloxi con 1 hasta 10 átomos de carbono o ariloxi con 6 hasta 10 átomos de carbono, (a) con un metal alcalino en un disolvente orgánico aprótico y (b) con un compuesto de la fórmula general (II) L 4 -- R 3 (II), en la que el resto R 3 significa un resto orgánico con, respectivamente, 1 hasta 30 átomos de carbono; y el grupo disociable L 4 significa halógeno, alquiloxi con 1 hasta 10 átomos de carbono o ariloxi con 6 hasta 10 átomos de carbono, caracterizado porque el metal alcalino, en el disolvente aprótico orgánico, se combina, en primer lugar, con el compuesto (I) y la mezcla obtenida se combina, a continuación, con el compuesto (II), y porque la mezcla de la reacción, obtenida de este modo, se hidroliza con una base acuosa, que presenta un valor del pH >_ 10 y la fase orgánica se separa de la fase acuosa.

Most preferably, R 1 and R 3 are phenyl and R 2 is 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl. The alkali metal is preferably sodium, the activator is preferably chlorobenzene and/or n-butanol.
