Abstract: The present invention relates to novel graft polymers comprising a polymer backbone (A) as a graft base having polymeric sidechains (B) grafted thereon. The polymeric sidechains (B) are obtainable by polymerization of at least one vinyl ester monomer (B1) and optionally a further monomer (B2), wherein—if present—the weight ratio of monomer (B2) to monomer (B1) is less than 0.5. The polymer backbone (A) is obtainable by polymerization of ethylene oxide, and the molecular weight of the polymer backbone Mn in g/mol is within 500 to 5000. The present invention further relates to a process for obtaining such a graft polymer, the process is preferably carried out by free-radical polymerization. The present invention also relates to the use of such a graft polymer within, for example, fabric and home care products. Also claimed are fabric and home care products containing such graft polymer.

Abstract: This application relates to biodegradable graft polymers for use as dye transfer inhibitors especially in laundry applications.
The graft polymers of the invention comprise a polyalkylene oxide polymer as polymer backbone of the graft polymer and grafted side chains obtained from radically polymerizing at least one vinyl ester, at least one vinylimidazole-monomer or derivative thereof in amounts of more than 10 weight percent being based on the total weight of the graft polymer, and optionally at least one vinyl lactame in the presence of the polymer backbone.
The inventive graft polymers exhibit dye transfer inhibition properties; as they also are bio-degradable, they are useful polymers for laundry cleaning applications to prevent dye transfer.
The invention further relates to the production of such graft polymers.
Furthermore, the present invention relates to the use of such a graft polymer within fabric and home care products, and the use of such graft polymers for inhibiting the dye transfer in laundry applications.
This invention also relates to fabric and home care products as such containing such a graft polymer.-

Abstract: Disclosed herein are novel graft polymers including a block copolymer backbone (A) as a graft base having polymeric sidechains (B) grafted thereon. The polymeric sidechains (B) are obtainable by polymerization of a vinyl ester monomer (B1) and optionally N-vinylpyrrolidone as optional further monomer (B2). Most preferably, the block copolymer backbone (A) is a triblock copolymer of polyethylene oxide (PEG) and polypropylene oxide (PPG). Abstract: The invention refers to a method for determining a synthesis specification comprising a target biodegradability. A target biodegradability is provided indicative of a biodegradation characteristic of a polymer. A digital representation of a potential target synthesis specification is provided indicative of physicochemical characteristics of the polymer. A habitat is provided indicative of habitat descriptor values of habitat descriptors. A model is provided based on the habitat that is adapted to determine the biodegradability of a polymer in the habitat. The biodegradability of the potential target polymer is determined based on the provided model and the digital representation. Then the determined biodegradability is compared with the target biodegradability and either i) the potential target polymer is determined as the target polymer, or ii) a new potential target synthesis specification of a potential target polymer is provided and the determination of the biodegradability is repeated utilizing the new potential target synthesis specification.
