Abstract:
Lubricants with a terpolymer made of diester, olefin and acrylate The invention relates to a lubricant comprising a terpolymer which comprises in polymerized forma diester selected from di(C4-C22 alkyl)ester of maleic acid, fumaric acid, 2-methylmaleic acid, 2,3-dimethylmaleic acid, 2-methylfumaric acid, 2,3-dimethylfumaric acid, or mixtures thereof, an olefin selected from C6-C40 alky-1-ene, and an acrylate selected from C4-C40 alkyl (meth)acrylate. The invention further relates to the terpolymer, a process for preparing the terpolymer comprising the step of polymerizing the diester, the olefin, and the acrylate; and to a method for reducing friction between moving surfaces comprising the step of contacting the surfaces with the lubricant or with the terpolymer.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lubricant comprising a liquid ethylene copolymer which comprises in polymerized form 20 to 60 wt % of ethylene; and at least 20 wt % of an acrylate, which is selected from C1-C22 alkyl (meth)acrylate. It further relates to the liquid ethylene copolymer; and to a method for reducing friction between moving surfaces comprising the step of contacting the surfaces with the lubricant or with the ethylene copolymer.
Abstract:
The presently claimed invention is directed to the novel use of polyester obtainable by reacting a mixture comprising adipic acid and an alcohol mixture comprising 1-nonanol, monomethyloctanols, dimethylheptanols and monoethylheptanols as lubricants and a lubricant composition comprising these polyesters.
Abstract:
Lubricating oil compositions comprise one or more polytetrahydrofuranes that are prepared by alkoxylating polytetrahydrofurane with at least one C8-C30 epoxy alkane.
Abstract:
A method for reducing the friction coefficient of a lubricating oil composition in the lubrication of a mechanical device comprises formulating said lubricating oil composition with a carboxylic acid ester obtainable by reacting a mixture comprising at least on dicarboxylic acid and at least one branched C10 alcohol.
Abstract:
A gear oil composition that has a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. in the range of ≥68 to ≤1000 csdt when measured in accordance with ASTM D445 can be made. The gear oil composition is useful as a lubricant in a gear box, especially in a wind turbine gear box.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a continuous high-pressure polymerization process for the preparation of a liquid ethylene copolymer which comprises in polymerized form 20 to 60 wt % of ethylene; and at least 20 wt % of an acrylate, which is selected from C1-C22 alkyl (meth)acrylate, where a monomer feed comprising the ethylene and the acrylate is polymerized in the presence of at least 2 wt % of a chain transfer agent. The invention further relates to the liquid ethylene copolymer obtainable by the polymerization process; and to a lubricant comprising the liquid ethylene copolymer obtainable by the polymerization process; and to a method for reducing friction between moving surfaces comprising the step of contacting the surfaces with the lubricant or with the ethylene copolymer.
Abstract:
The presently claimed invention is directed to novel polyesters which are obtainable by reacting a mixture comprising at least one C8-C20 Guerbet alcohol, at least one aliphatic or cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acid and at least one polyol with a hydroxyl functionality in the range of ≥2 to ≤6 and the use of these polyesters as a component of lubricating oil compositions.

Lubricating oil compositions comprise one or more polytetrahydrofuranes that are prepared by alkoxylating polytetrahydrofurane with at least one C8-C30 epoxy alkane.
Abstract:
An axle lubricating oil composition includes a polyalphaolefin having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of from 2 to 40 cSt when measured in accordance with ASTM D445. The axle lubricating oil composition also includes an alkoxylated polytetrahydrofuran of general formula (II). The alkoxylated polytetrahydrofuran of general formula (II) is present in an amount of from 10 to 40 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the axle lubricating oil composition.
