Abstract: The present invention relates to sulfur containing polyols, a process for their production by reaction of at least one unsaturated alcohol A with elemental sulfur, wherein the unsaturated alcohol A has only one carbon-carbon double bond-unsaturation per molecule. The sulfur containing polyols are used in the production of polyurethanes, in particular rigid foam polyurethanes, for high-temperature pipe insulation applications.
