Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the hydrolysis of at least one isocyanate adduct, with a hydrolyzing agent, characterized in that the hydrolyzing agent contains water and at least one imidazole of the following structural formula, where R1 is a alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, preferably 1 to 3 carbon atoms, more preferably 1 to 2 carbon atoms, and most preferably having one carbon atom, and R2, R3 and R4 independently of each other are hydrogen (H) or are alkyl groups having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, preferably 1 to 3 carbon atoms, more preferably 1 to 2 carbon atoms, and most preferably having one carbon atom. The invention further relates to the use of starting substances for the described method.

Abstract: Reducing formaldehyde emissions from polyurethane foams comprises adding an amino-functional polymer before, during or after producing the foam. Independent claims are also included for: (1) polyurethane foam containing 0.0001 to less than 0.1 wt.% of an amino-functional polymer with a molecular weight (MW) of at least 500 and an amino functionality (AF) of at least 3, the MW/AF ratio being 40-500; (2) equipment articles comprising the polyurethane foam; (3) use of amino-functional polymers to improve the mechanical properties of polyurethane foams.
