Abstract: Compositions and methods of synthesis of anionic surfactants by alkoxylation of a Guerbet alcohol (GA) having 12 to 36 carbon atoms using butylene oxide, and optionally propylene oxide and/or ethylene oxide followed by the incorporation of a terminal anionic group are described herein. The GA of the present invention is made by a facile and inexpensive method that involves high temperature base catalyzed dimerization of alcohols with 6 to 18 carbon atoms. The large hydrophobe ether surfactants of the present invention find uses in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications where it is used for solubilization and mobilization of oil and for environmental cleanup. Further, the hydrophobe alkoxylated GA without anionic terminal group can be used as an ultra- high molecular weight non-ionic surfactant.

Abstract: Un dispositivo y un proceso para elaborar fluidos de tratamiento acuosos para recuperar petróleo crudo de formaciones petrolíferas subterráneas, que comprenden polímeros hidrosolubles, preferentemente poliacrilamidas, en primer lugar diluyendo un concentrado acuoso de polímero que comprende 3,5 a 10% en peso de polímero hidrosoluble con un fluido de base acuosa hasta una concentración de 0,01 a 2% en peso del polímero hidrosoluble. En segundo lugar, dosificando el concentrado acuoso de polímero diluido en una mezcladora o una unidad de inyección de polímero para obtener un fluido de tratamiento acuoso. Los fluidos de tratamiento acuosos obtenidos se pueden usar como fluidos de fractura o como fluidos de recuperación mejorada de petróleo, entre otros. Asimismo, a un nuevo concentrado acuoso de poliacrilamida, y su proceso de preparación, que puede usarse como material de inicio para elaborar fluidos de tratamiento acuosos. El nuevo concentrado acuoso de poliacrilamida comprende al menos agua, poliacrilamida, una sal y un poliol o un tensioactivo.
