Im Allgemeinen werden solche Materialien auch als „superabsorbierend” bezeichnet. Geschäumte Polymere eignen sich daher unter Anderem hervorragend als Material in Hygieneartikeln zur Aufnahme von Körperflüssigkeiten wie beispielsweise Windeln. Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren zur Herstellung eines geschäumten Polymers (gP) werden Abfallreste, die bei der Verarbeitung des geschäumten Polymers (gP) anfallen, in partikulärer Form den Ausgangsmaterialien zugegeben und erneut aufgeschäumt.
