Abstract:
The invention relates to a copolymer having high chemical uniformity, made of (A) 50 to 30 wt % of ethylene, (B) 50 to 70 wt % of C4- to C24-hydrocarbylester of (meth)acrylic acid, (C) 0 to 5 wt % of (meth)acrylic acid, and (D) 0 to 10 wt % of copolymerizable monomers that can be obtained by the polymerization of a mixture of 80 to 60 wt % of ethylene, 20 to 40 wt % of (meth)acrylic acid, and 0 to 10 wt % of copolymerizable monomers in a back mixing, continuously operating polymerization apparatus, and the subsequent polymeric analogous esterification of the copolymer thus obtained with C4- to C24-hydrocarbinols. The copolymer according to the invention is suitable for improving the cold flow properties of fuel oils, for reducing the lower mixing temperature of cold flow improving additives in fuel oils, and for improving the filterability of fuel oils containing cold flow improving additives.
Abstract:
A lubricant comprising 2,5-(bishydroxymethyl) tetryhydrofuran dialkanoates This invention relates to a lubricant comprising a THF ester of the formula (I) as defined below. This invention further relates to a use of the THF ester as lubricant; and to a method for reducing friction between moving surfaces comprising the step of contacting the surfaces with the lubricant or with the THF ester.

Abstract:
Terpolymer made of (A) ethylene, (B) (i) C2- to C14-alkenyl esters of one or more aliphatic C1- to C20-monocarboxylic acids or (ii) C1- to C24-alkyl esters of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and (C) olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbons selected from (iii) 5- to 7-membered cycloalkenes and (iv) a-olefins having from 6 to 20 carbon atoms. The said terpolymer is suitable as low-temperature flow improver in middle-distillate fuels. It lowers the minimum temperature at which low-temperature flow improver additives can be mixed into middle-distillate fuels, and improves the filterability of middle-distillate fuels comprising low-temperature flow improver additives.
