Abstract:
A system for networking blood component collection instruments in a facility is disclosed. The facility includes a plurality of independently operable blood component collection instruments. (20a, 20b, 20c) The blood component collection instruments have a first communication protocol. The system comprises a system computer (34), a communication conduit, a second communication protocol, and a protocol converter. The system computer (34) comprises a memory and a code segment that defines at least a portion of a blood component collection process. The communication conduit connects each of the plurality of blood component collection instruments to the system computer. The second communication protocol facilitates connnunication on the communication conduit between the system computer and each of the collection instruments. The protocol converter connects to the communication conduit between the collection instrument and the system computer, and converts the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol.
Abstract:
A system (10), computer readable medium (44b) and method for managing a procedure in a blood component collection facility is disclosed. The system comprises a blood component donor identifier corresponding to a blood component donor, an operator identifier corresponding to a blood component collection instrument operator, a blood component collection instrument (20a), a system computer and an interface. The collection instrument (20a) collects a blood component from the blood component donor. The system computer (44b) is operably connected to the blood component collection instrument and runs a blood component collection application defining at least one step of a blood component collection process. The interface (44b) has a reader and is operably connected to the system computer (44b). The interface and reader receives the blood component donor identifier and the operator identifier and transmits the operator identifier to the system computer (44b) proximate the performance of at least one step of the blood component collection process.

A system (10) for managing inventory of blood component collection soft good s in a blood component collection facility is disclosed. The sysem comprises a n operator identifier a blood collection instrument, system computer and a dat a interface. The blood component collection instrument (20a) collects a blood component from the blood component donor. The system computer (48) is operab ly connected to the blood component collection instrument and runs a blood component collection application for at least a portion of a blood component collection process. The system computer (48) is in data communication with a system database (62) having a blood component collection soft good inventory . The interface (44b) includes a reader and iks operably connected to the syst em computer and receives the operator identifier (90) and transmits the operato r identifier to the system computer. The reader also receives separate input o f the blood omponent soft good identifier and transmits the blood component so ft good identifier to the system database.
Abstract:
A system, method and computer readable medium for managing a procedure in a blood component collection facility is disclosed. The system includes a dono r identifier, an operator identifier a blood colletion instrument, system computer, and a data interface. The donor identifier corresponds to a blood component donor and the operator identifier corresponds to the blood collection instrument operator. The blood component collection instrument collects a blood component from the blood component donor. The system comput er is operably connected to the blood component collection instrument and includes a software application that defines at least a portion of a blood component collection process. The interface includes a reader and is operabl y copnnected to the system computer. The interace transmits the blood componen t donor identifier and the blood component collection instrument identifier to the system computer.

Abstract:
A system and method for monitoring a product inventory utilized in a blood component collection facility for collection at least one blood component fr om a donor is disclosed. The blood component collection facility includes a blo od component collection instrument capable of being adapted to the donor wherei n an operator facilitates interaction of the donor with the blood component collection facility. The system includes a system server having a blood component collection process. A product inventory database is provided for tracking various different inventory aspects of the blood component collecti on process. The product inventory represents a quantity of a product being available for use within the blood component collection facility. An interfa ce being operably connected to the system servrt includes a reader for entering a blood component collection facility identifier, i.e., a product identifier. A web browser embedded within the interfact cooperates with an inventory web page for providing access to the inventory database wherein the product inventory can be monitored.
