Abstract: 1337266 Vulcanization retarders BAYER AG 16 Nov 1970 [15 Nov 1969] 54385/70 Heading C3E [Also in Division C2] A vulcanization process comprises incorporating a substituted trihalomethyl sulphenyl sulphonamide of the formula in which R represents an alkyl radical optionally substituted by chlorine, a cycloalkyl radical, an aryl radical optionally substituted by at least one alkyl group and/or chlorine atom, an aralkyl radical or a dialkylamino group, R 1 represents an aryl radical optionally substituted by at least one alkyl group and/or chlorine atom, and X represents chlorine or fluorine, as a vulcanization retarder, into a natural and/or synthetic rubber mixture. The vulcanization retarder may be incorporated in an amount 0À5-5%, in particular 0À1-1À5%, based on the weight of rubber. Examples refer to the use, as vulcanization retarders, of N-phenyl-N-(trichloromethylsulphenyl) - methylsulphonamide, N - phenyl - N - (trichloromethylsulphenyl)- chloromethylsulphonamide, N - phenyl - N- (trichloromethylsulphenyl) - benzenesulphonamide, N - o - tolyl - N - (trichloromethylsulphonyl) - dimethylsulphamide, N - phenyl- N - (fluorodichloromethylsulphenyl)- benzenesulphonamide.

Abstract: A mixture of azodicarbonamide and an alpha -amidosulphone corresponding to the general formula: in which R represents hydrogen, a C1-C4-alkyl residue and/or halogen, x represents numbers from 0 to 5, y represents numbers from 1 to 3, corresponding to the valency of R1, R1 represents an aromatic carboxylic acid residue or sulphonic acid residue with 6 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted once or several times by halogen, C1-C4 alkyl residues, C1-C4 alkoxy residues, nitro and/or cyano, or represents an aliphatic carboxylic acid residue or a sulphonic acid residue with 1-4 carbon atoms, a carbonic acid residue, a thiocarbonic acid residue or a phosphoric acid residue which, corresponding to the numerical value of y, contains 0-2 phenoxy residues or C1-C4 alkoxy residues optionally substituted with C1-C4 alkyl or halogen, R2 represents R1, or hydrogen, a C1-C4 alkyl residue, a C5-C7 cycloalkyl residue, a phenyl residue, which is optionally substituted once or several times by C1-C4-alkyl or halogen, a phenyl alkyl residue whose phenyl group is optionally substituted once or several times by C1-C4-alkyl or halogen and whose alkyl group has 1-3 carbon atoms or R1 and R2 together with the nitrogen atom form a cyclic lactam ring which has 4-6 carbon atoms, can be used as a blowing agent for rubber.

Abstract: 1380961 Azodicarbonamide/sulphinic acid or salt as blowing agents BAYER AG 18 Jan 1972 [18 Jan 1971] 2281/72 Headings C3C and C3R Cellular natural or synthetic rubber or synthetic resins are made using as blowing agent azodicarbonamide together with an activator which is an aromatic sulphinic acid or salt of Formula (I) where M is H, a metal or an ammonium radical which may be substituted, n is the valency of M, and R 1-5 are H, C 1-4 alkyl or halogen. The polymer may be derived from butadiene, chlorobutadiene, dimethylbutadiene, isoprene, styrene, α-methylstyrene, acrylonitrile, methacylonitrile, acrylates, methacrylates, ethylene, propylene, vinyl chloride, and/or vinyl acetate; or may be a polyurethane. The activator may be a benzene sulphinate or sodium, zinc, lead cadmium, magnesium; a p-chlorobenzene sulphinate of zinc or sodium; a toluene sulphinate of cadmium or sodium; or p-chlorobenzene sulphinic acid.
