    Abstract: Ski cores are produced by heating a thermoformable, rigid foam containing urethane and isocyanurate groups and having a density of greater than 100 kg/m , obtained by reacting polyisocyanates with a mixture of relatively high-molecular-weight polyethers and polyesters containing at least two hydroxyl groups and having a mixture OH number of greater than 400 and a characteristic number of greater than 125 in the presence of blowing agents and optionally further additives known per se, to a temperature of above 160@C and then immediately pressing the heated foam in moulds having a surface temperature of below 50@C for the final shaping.

    Abstract: A process for the production of polyurethane mouldings having a density in the range from 0.8 to 1.4 g/cm and a modulus of elasticity in bending, measured in accordance with DIN 53 457, of at least 1800 N/mm involves reacting di- and/or polyisocyanates from the diphenylmethane series with selected compounds containing groups which are reactive towards isocyanate groups by reaction injection moulding, where the reactants used are, inter alia, polyether-polyols which have a molecular weight of from 500 to 999 and contain at least 30 % by weight of ethylene oxide units incorporated in polyether chains, and, in addition, the type and mixing ratios of the compounds containing groups which are reactive towards isocyanate groups are selected so that the mean hydroxyl number of the mixture formed from these components is greater than 300.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of non-cellular polyurethane ureas elastomers using a chain-extender mixture produced from asymmetrically alkyl-substituted anilines by condensation with formaldehyde. The chain-extending agents used in the instant invention show medium reactivity to compounds containing isocyanate groups. These chain-extending agents may be processed both in high-pressure and in low-pressure metering and mixing units because they are either liquid at room temperature or can be melted at relatively low temperatures (below 55 DEG C.). The homogeneous, i.e. non-cellular, polyurethane urea elastomers obtained in the instant invention are distinguished by having excellent mechanical properties.

    Abstract: A pneumatic tire comprising an encircling tread and two side members, wherein each side member comprises a side wall having a bead ring and part of the tread backing, characterized in that said tread backing has the following features: (a) the tread backing is formed as a ring which extends to the center of the tire and is intimately joined to the side wall on the other side; (b) bands whose length is substantially equal to the width of said ring are fixed on the circumference of said ring in the center of the tread; (c) the width of said bands is approximately equal to the distance between said bands; (d) there are recesses in the part of said ring facing the tread, into which said bands of the other side fit during assembly, so that said tread backing has a substantially flush surface after assembly; and (e) there are beads on the end of said bands for clamping in the tread.
