    Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce the energy consumption of a vacuum pump by packing several kinds of Ca zeolite A molecular sieves having different adsorption characteristics into the adsorbers of a VSA apparatus. CONSTITUTION: The air is passed via a fan G and a valve 11A into the adsorber A and an oxygen-enriched gas is taken out as a product via a valve 14A and a fan R. Valves 12A, 13A are held closed. Simultaneously the adsorber B is evacuated via a valve 12B and the vacuum pump V. Valves 11B, 13B, 14B are held closed. Simultaneously the oxygen which is the product is packed into the adsorber C via valves 15, 13C. Valves 11C, 12C, 14C are held closed. These three step processes are cyclically operated with the three adsorbers A, B, C. The raw gas intake side, i.e., bottom layers, of the respective adsorbers A, B, C consist of the Ca zeolite A having the lowest adsorption capacity with respect to the nitrogen and the layers of the Ca zeolite A having the highest adsorption with respect to the nitrogen are made to exist at the oxygen product ends of the absorbers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To economically separate weakly adsorptive components by a simple method by alternately operating two adsorbers and partially executing the sepn. of untreated gases under reduced pressure when the max. adsorption pressure is attained. CONSTITUTION: Air is delivered from a valve B1 to the adsorber B by an air blower. Since the air flows from the adsorber A through a valve AB1 into the adsorber B, the pressure of the adsorber B increases and the pressure of the adsorber A drops. The adsorber B is then filled with the gas of a storage device R from a volume control valve AB3 and a valve B3. When the adsorber A attains the min. pressure, the air supply from a valve B1 and the product gases from a valve B3 and a valve AB2 are introduced into the storage device R until the final pressure is attained in the adsorber B and the storage device R. A similar cycle is then executed in the form of exchanging the adsorbers A and B. The weakly adsorptitve component like oxygen in the air is separated and the higher concn. can be attained by the method described above.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an oxygen yield and to enrich oxygen in air with low energy by respectively specifying an inlet temp. and kinds of zeolites, in a process for oxygen enrichment by the use of combined zeolite fillers depending on the inlet temp. SOLUTION: A packing comprising Na-Ca zeolite X having the SiO2 /Al2 O3 ratio of 2.0-2.5 and the CaO/Al2 O3 ratio of 0.4-0.75 is provided at an air inlet side of a vacuum swing adsorber, or the like. The ratios are dependent upon the air inlet temp., and at an air inlet temp. of 20-30 deg.C, the CaO/Al2 O3 ratio of the Na-Ca zeolite X is 0.4-0.6, at an inlet temp. of 30-40 deg.C, the ratio is 0.55-0.65, and at an inlet temp. of 40-50 deg.C, the ratio is 0.6-0.75. The packing at the air outlet side of the adsorber comprises Na-Ca zeolite A with a CaO/Al2 O3 ratio of 0.5-1.0 or Na-Ca zeolite X with a CaO/Al2 O3 ratio of 0.5-1.0, wherein the ratio is higher than that of the inlet side. Thereby, N2 /O2 selectivity of the packing is improved, to enrich oxygen in air.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of enrichment of air with oxygen by cooling a portion of an gas or a production gas and re-pressurizing adsorbers by using the gas after cooled in an adsorptive alternating pressure process for the enrichment of air with oxygen using a molecular sieve zeolite in the adsorbers. CONSTITUTION: Air is made to flow into the adsorber A by being passed through a valve 11A and a product O2 is taken out via a valve 14A and a blower R. Further, the adsorber B is deaerated by the operation of a pump V via a valve 12B, and simultaneously, the adsorber C is filled with the product O2 via valves 15, 13C. Subsequently, the enrichment of air with oxygen is executed by successively proceeding to a deaerating process and a filling process for the adsorber A, the filling process and an oxygen producing process for the adsorber B and the oxygen producing process and the deaerating process for the adsorber C. In such a process for the enrichment of air with oxygen, a piping L14 between the blower R and the valve 15 is provided with a cooling unit device C, thereby cooling a fixed quantity of O2 flowing into the adsorber deaerated through the piping L14, thus efficiency is improved.
