Abstract: Phosphorylated organosiloxanes are used as flame retardants or flame retardant synergists in plastics. Phosphorylated organosiloxanes are used as flame retardants or flame retardant synergists in plastics. The phosphorylated organosiloxanes are preferably reaction products of phosphorus compounds of formula R1O-P(=O)R2-OR1 (I) and halosilanes of formula (R3)n-SiX4-n (II). n = 0-3 (preferably 1-3); X = halogen, preferably Cl or Br; R1 = alkyl; R2 = H, alkyl, aryl, alkoxy or aryloxy; and R3 = alkyl or aryl.
