    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for filling a sample into gel. SOLUTION: This needle guide 11 is used for filling a sample in wells along the upper end of an electrophoresis gel. The needle guide 11 includes a slant surface 18, plural partition walls 17 spreading across the slant surface 18 to provide a passage corresponding to the well and a means for stably supporting the needle guide 11 on an enclosure together with the slant surface 18 slanting downward toward one of parallel plates and the passage communicating with the wall on an enclosure.

    Abstract: Sample disks are excised from a membrane by a cutting apparatus that includes a cutting tool terminating in a hollow cylinder with an exposed cutting edge, the tool slidably retained within a sleeve or otherwise slidably mounted to a mounting body, with a spiral cam in either the tool or the mounting body. A rider is included in the construction and arranged to engage the cam such that sliding movement of the cutting tool translates into rotational movement of the cylinder and its cutting edge.
