    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent increase in a back pressure of a column because of fragments of solid accompanying a carrier fluid by constructing a filter material into a multilayer structure of non-woven sintered stainless steel fiber and gradually increasing density of the fiber along the flow direction in charging of the fiber. SOLUTION: A cartridge made of metal such as stainless steel is constructed into a hollow cylindrical tube 11. In the upstream end and the downstream end of a chamber 21 for a separator, screens 23, 24 made of sintered non-woven stainless steel fiber filter material discs are arranged, and in the screens 23, 24, the side provided with a larger pore size is oriented on the flow direction upstream side. As the screens 23, 24 are thin and flexible, they are supported by means of porous sintered stainless steel discs 25, 26. A difference in the pore size of the filters is about 1-50 μm and is abut 2-20 μm desirably. As the gradually variable filter material, a filter varied in about 3-6 steps is preferable.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method, for image-generating attenuation reflection (ATR) spectroscopy, in which the higher speed and the more excellent spatial resolution of the spectroscopy are obtained as compared with a system which acquires data in the same quantity by using a method and an apparatus, for image-nongenerating ATR spectroscopy, in conventional cases. SOLUTION: In an apparatus, a light source 22 is contained, an interferometer 22 which is coupled to a light source generating the spectrum multiple incident beam of light is contained, an internal reflecting element(IRE) 10 containing a contact region 20 which is coupled to a sample 18 being inspected is contained, a focal-plane array detector 32 is contained, a first optical system 26 which is situated so as to be focused toward the contact region 20 via the rear face of the IRE 10 in such a way that the angle of incidence of the incident beam on the front face becomes the critical angle or higher of the IRE 10 is ocontained, and a second optical system 28 which is situated in such a way that reflected light is image-formed on the focal-plane array detector 32 is contained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a wedge-shaped sample well to partition a sample lane, in which samples are held in an ultra-thin slab gel used in a vertical slab gel electrophoresis. CONSTITUTION: A comb 32 has a wedge-shaped end 38, and a well is formed where samples can be held individually. Notches in wedge shape are cut in the alternate serrations constituting groove 62 so that tapered teeth are formed in the vertical direction, wherein the well is made with a space formed between adjoining teeth 61. A gel encapsulation 11 holding the slab gel is formed from two plates 12, 13 to constitute complementary openings in wedge shape leading to the gel space. Only the part with teeth of the comb 32 is fitted in openings, and is contacted with the over exposed surface of the gel or plunged for a short distance. It may also be accepted that the comb is formed in a rectangular shape and grooves having different depths are provided so that a wedge shape is generated.

Then, while the pump 10 is so operated as to, through a system, press-send the mixture of liquid 6 and 8, selection and operation with time period T (new) are repeated, so that the system is controlled for a minimum detector noise.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance the analytical effect by fixing a reagent container having a punchable and self closable membrane to a separable support structure for holding a plurality of containers and then setting the support structure in an analyzer performing a series of analyses. CONSTITUTION: A membrane 31 fixed to the upper surface 19 at the lip part 18 of a reagent container 11 is inpermeable to the content vapor. The membrane 31 can be punched with a pointed instrument and only a sufficiently small hole is left after drawing out the instrument. When the container 11 is set on a support, a part of the lip part 18 expending to the side and front parts of the container 11 slips along a tab of the support. The lip part 18 and the tab guide the container 11 to a predetermined position and hold the container 11 in place. The support is preferably designed to hold more than one container 11 and serves to insert the container 11 into an automated analyzer and guide the container 11 to an appropriate position.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To make it possible to separate a mixture of sample ions with good reproducibility and stability by causing it to pass a separating column electrophoretically containing an aqueous solution without a gel of a linear polymer having a specific molecular weight. CONSTITUTION: A mixture of sample ions of different molecular weights in a sample is caused to pass a separating column electrophoretically containing an aqueous solution without a gel of a practically linear polymer having a molecular weight of about 10 to about 2×10 . At this time, its molecular weight is in the range of about 0.1 to about 200 times as large as the average molecular weight of high polymers in the mixture, and is large enough to delay the flow of the high molecules passing the separating column to the extent that the concentration of the polymer in the solution changes together with the molecular weight of the high molecules. Besides, one having sample ions of macromolecules, and having a polymer concentration high enough to lengthen the high polymer holding time in at least about 25%/about 35%/about 50% columns is used. Besides, as a polymer one having an average molecular weight being between the minimum molecular weight and the maximum molecular weight of the sample ions in the mixture, is used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To separate, for example, a complex protein mixture easily and accurately without gel or dissolved substance being distorted and disturbed by providing a slab gel, a piece-shaped gel solution, and a protection layer. CONSTITUTION: When an upper space is placed at a given position, a piece- shaped gel solution 26 is left and is solidified to a gel. When the gel is fully formed, the spacer is loosened. Then, a protection layer 25 is eliminated itself or is left at the site when it is electrically insulated. When the protection layer 25 is in the form of liquid, it is emptied or is sucked and a space is left between two types of gels. Also, the protection layer 25 is a low-melt-point solid or has a melt point within a range of about 25 deg.C to about 75 deg.C. This kind of material is poured in the form of liquid over an upper edge 24 of a slab gel 23, is cooled, and is solidified before the solution 26 is added. Once the latter is solidified, a system is heated again and the protection layer 25 is heated again higher than its melt point, and the layer 25 is returned to liquid shape again and is poured or sucked.
