Abstract: A pressure regulator of a two stage design control pressure in two output circuit lines and provides a free return flow one circuit through the regulator to the other. When flow passes from inlet (14) to outlet (15) across a restriction formed in a main spool (17), the output pressure in a channel (44) operates on one side of a pilot spool (36). Pilot spool reacts to the pressure difference between inlet (14) and outlet (15) together with reference spring action (43) to regulate the discharge to tank (23) to maintain constant pressure. When reverse flow occurs into port (15) the pilot spool moves against stops (45) to block dumped flow (23). The main spool is then pressure balanced and the bias spring (19) provides a full flow connection from one circuit (26) to the other (24).
