    Abstract: The invention contemplates an improved diaphragm-operated fuelpump construction having particular use with a multiple-cylinder two-cycle engine, wherein two phased-displaced series of fluidpressure pulses are used for diaphragm actuation. In the primary pumping chamber, inlet and outlet check valves assure the desired single direction of fuel flow, and strikingly enhanced performance results from novel employment of an additional diaphragm-operated chamber, on the inlet side of the inlet check valve, said inlet-chamber diaphragm being driven by fluidpressure pulses which are phase-displaced from those which actuate the diaphragm of the primary pumping chamber. In the form specifically disclosed, a third diaphragm-operated chamber is on the outlet side of the outlet check valve, and the inlet and outlet chamber diaphragms are driven in phase with each other and, therefore, in phase-displaced relation with drive of the primary pumping-chamber diaphragm.

    Abstract: In a two cycle internal combustion engine wherein heavy fuel ends accumulate in lower portions of the crankcase r recirculation means are provided for variably recirculating the heavy fuel ends back into the crankcase only at higher engine speeds for subsequent combustion. The heavy fuel ends are collected in a reservoir , and held therein at idle, to minimize engine smoke. The heavy fuel ends are released from the reservoir at higher engine speed for recirculation through a delivery line which is selectively exposed by a throttle valve to crankcase vacuum only at higher engine speed, whereby the heavy fuel ends are sucked from the reservoir through the delivery line and carburetor throat into the crankcase.

    Abstract: 1456924 Reciprocating pumps BRUNSWICK CORP 1 Oct 1974 [19 Nov 1973] 42661/74 Heading F1A A diaphragm fuel pump operated by the crankcase pressure of a multi-cylinder two-stroke engine, providing two sources of pressure pulses out of phase with one another, comprises a diaphragm 17, 18, 19 dividing chambers 14, 15, 16, chamber 14 above the diaphragm being connected to an inlet chamber 37 and below the diaphragm to one of the sources of pressure pulses, chamber 15 above the diaphragm being connected via inlet check-valve 31 to inlet chamber 37 and below the diaphragm to the other source of pressure pulses, and chamber 16 above the diaphragm being connected to chamber 15 via outlet check-valve 32 and to an outlet 12, and below the diaphragm to the same source of pressure pulses as chamber 14, so that the out of phase movement of the diaphragm in chamber 14 and 16 relative to that in chamber 15 causes positive closure of the inlet and outlet checkvalves. A filter 41 is provided in chamber 37.

    Abstract: In a two cycle internal combustion engine (2), a fuel injection system is provided with a low profile compact intake manifold (22) mounted to the crankcase (8) by an adaptor plate (24) and defining an intake air flow path in a first direction (28) behind the manifold (22) through a gap between the manifold (22) and the crankcase (8) provided by the adaptor plate (24). Intake air then flows (32) into throttle bore passages (30) from behind the manifold and then reverses direction and flows through supply passages (34) having fuel injectors (38) and then into the crankcase (8). The passages share a common plenum (42) within the manifold. The fuel injectors (38), their electrical connectors (48) and a common rigid fuel supply rail (44) are all in the common plenum (42) entirely within the low profile manifold (22) and sealed from moisture and salt in a marine environment.
