Abstract:
Methods for enzymatically isolating lignin and other bioproducts, such as fermentable sugars, from herbaceous plant materials, are described. The methods can provide improvements, such as increased product purity and reduced process energy requirements and product modifications and contamination. Systems for practicing the methods also are provided.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An enzyme composition of matter is disclosed for reducing the amount of acylglycerol esters in water comprising a lipase enzyme, a non-ionic emulsifying agent, a water soluble organic acid preservative and a water soluble stabilizer. The lipase enzyme can be used in conjunction with other enzymes. The non-ionic emulsifying agent can comprise an alcohol ethoxylate, the water soluble organic acid preservative can comprise sorbic acid and the water soluble stabilizer can comprise glycerol. A method for treating water containing acylglycerol esters with the foregoing compositions is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising an ionene polymer and a salt of dodecylamine are disclosed which are synergistically effective compared to the respective components alone in controlling the growth of microorganisms in or on a material or medium. Methods to control of growth of microorganisms with the use of these compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract:
A method is provided for controlling deposit-forming contaminants that comprise pitch or other fiber components which can interfere with the processing of the fibers, reduce paper quality, or both in papermaking systems. The method includes contacting fibers with a lipase and at least one peroxide source-free oxidant, and optionally nonionic surfactant, to liberate the organic contaminants from the fibers. Paper products of the method are also provided.
