Abstract:
There is disclosed an aqueous ink jet ink composition comprising an aqueous vehicle and a modified carbon product containing carbon having attached at least one organic group. The organic group comprises a) at least one aromatic group and b) at least one ionic group, at least one ionizable group, or a mixture of an ionic group and an ionizable group. The organic group having an aromatic group is directly attached to the carbon by the aromatic group. The organic group may comprise a) at least one C1-C12 alkyl group and b) at least one ionic group, at least one ionizable group, or a mixture of an ionic group and an ionizable group. Ink jet recording methods applying an ink jet ink of the present invention are also described.
Abstract:
A variety of methods to prepare a polymer composition containing at least one polymer and at least one modified pigment are described. The methods, in part, involve introducing a slurry containing at least one modified pigment into an emulsion or solution polymer prior to dewatering. Other polymer systems can be used including aqueous based polymerizations and solvent-based polymerizations, which can include free radical polymerizations. Other methods involve the formation of a modified pigment in the presence of an emulsion or solution polymer and then recovering the polymer composition containing the modified pigment. Compositions containing at least one modified pigment and the emulsion or solution polymer are also described as well as uses for the polymer compositions of the present invention.
Abstract:
Modified fillers are described which have adsorbed and/or attached chemical groups, such as a triazole and/or pyrazole thereon. Other modified fillers are also described. Elastomeric compositions containing the modified filler are further described, as well as methods to improve hysteresis and/or abrasion resistance in elastomeric compositions using the modified fillers of the present invention.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a modified colorant comprising a colorant having attached at least one organic group. Various embodiments of the organic group are disclosed. For each of these embodiments, preferably the organic group has a defined calcium index value. Also disclosed are various uses for these modified colorants, including inkjet ink compositions.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon black product having an organic group attached to the carbon black. SOLUTION: In a process, at least one diazonium salt is reacted with carbon black in the absence of an outer applied electric current sufficient to reduce the diazonium salt. In another process, at least one diazonium salt is reacted with carbon black in the presence of a protonic reaction medium. The carbon black product can be produced in the processes. Such the carbon black is useful for uses in plastic compositions, rubber compositions, paper compositions, and fiber compositions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
