Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid jet recording head in which the jetting direction of liquid drop can be stabilized without requiring any special step by increasing the opening area of the jet port in a jet port plate on the jet face side and varying the surface properties on the periphery of the jet port and print characteristics can be improved while enhancing throughput of manufacture. SOLUTION: At the time of collective abrasion of jet ports 23 through irradiation with a coherent laser light L, a jet port plate 21 is irradiated with a laser light M on the jet face side thereof in order to cut off the part 24 on the jet face side of the jet port plate 21 thus making thin the part for forming the jet port. At the same time, surface properties are varied on the jet face of the jet port plate 21 and adhesion of byproduct is prevented at the time of forming the jet port.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain a resin surface from being turned hydrophilic because of a by-product adhering to a resin blank surface without setting a special process, increase a throughput in manufacturing products, and improve print quality when a discharge opening is to be processed by projecting an excimer laser light to the resin blank. SOLUTION: When a laser light L is projected to a discharge opening plate 21 of a top plate constituting a liquid-jet recording head thereby processing a hole, i.e., a discharge opening through integral ablation, gas molecules 26 having fluorine atoms in a structure are sprayed to a processing part from a nozzle 25 arranged near the processing part. The gas molecules 26 generate highly reactive fluorine atoms when the laser light is projected. A by-product 24 generated by the projection of the laser light L is chemically processed through a surface modification by the highly reactive fluorine atoms, and a surface of the by-product is fluoridized. The liquid-jet recording head is thus prevented from being hydrophilic because of the adhesion of the by-product.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam machining method capable of removing contaminants produced by laser beam irradiation and stuck to a resin during machining, thereby obtaining a laser beam machining face having clean and desired shape in the case of machining a resin by laser beam irradiation. SOLUTION: A top board 35 made of resin is machined into the prescribed shape such as ink passage groove by the irradiation of excimer laser beam L, a basic wave and two hold higher harmonic wave of YAG laser beam L2 , which are absorbed into contaminants (byproducts) produced by laser beam machining but is not absorbed into the resin, are simultaneously radiated. By the irradiation of the basic wave or two hold higher harmonic wave of YAG laser beam L2 , the contaminants (byproducts) produced by the irradiation of the laser beam L and stuck to the resin is removed during laser beam machining, a clean and fine shape is machined with high precision.

SOLUTION: When a nozzle hole 5 of a liquid jet recording head is bored by irradiating an orifice plate 2 with laser light through a nozzle hole boring mask 14 and a demagnification projection optical system, the mask 14 is irradiated with laser light while being moved along a circular track of radius Δd having a center (o) matching the center (p) of a machining pattern 14a thus forming a part 5a for boring a nozzle hole and a part 5c for semi-boring a nozzle hole. According to the method, a tunnel-like nozzle hole 5 can be bored without causing an edge-like level difference on the boundary of a liquid channel and the liquid jet nozzle hole 5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long liquid jet recording head manufacturing method capable of accurately processing a plurality of ink passages and ink emitting orifices to a long top plate within a short time. SOLUTION: The processing positions of the ink passages or emitting orifices in the top plate 11 of a long liquid jet recording head are observed by the object lens 12 of the observation optical system connected to an image processor to perform image processing by the image processor. At first, the A-point of the top plate 11 is recognized to be numelated as coordinates (Xa, Ya) and the top plate 11 is successively moved and several places of processing positions B, C, D or E are respectively numerated in the same way and, on the basis of these data, the shapes of the top plate and approximate straight lines or curved lines approximate to the processing positions between A-B, B-C, C-D and D-E are calculated and the top plate is moved along the approximate straight lines or curved lines to successively perform the laser processing of the ink passages or emitting orifices.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure an ejection hole shape such as the tapered angle of a hole and the inclination of the center axis of the hole without destroying an orifice plate. SOLUTION: The opening part 2 on a liquid flow passage side of the ejection hole 1a of the orifice plate 1 for constituting a liquid jetting recording head is measured by a first measurement means 4 and the hole diameter A and hole position of the opening part 2 are measured. The ejection port 3 of the ejection hole 1a is measured by a second measurement means 5 arranged oppositely to the first measurement means 4 and the hole diameter (a) and hole position of the ejection port 3 are measured. Based on a hole diameter difference (A-a) obtained from the hole diameters A and (a), the tapered angle θ(=tan-1(2h/(A-a)) of the ejection hole or the like is calculated. In such a manner, the shape of the ejection hole is measured without destroying the orifice plate and the correlation of the shape of the ejection hole and liquid ejection characteristics is recognized.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hitting point inspecting method for recording head and a record ing head inspection equipment in which the hitting position of a liquid drop being ejected from a liquid jet recording head and the ejection opening position can be observed and the ejection angles of a main drop composing the liquid drop and a satellite can be measured. SOLUTION: At least one liquid drop ejected from the ejection opening of a recording head 1a held on a base carriage 2 hits against a recording medium 11 spaced apart from the ejection opening face. Liquid drops hitting the ejection opening and the recording medium 11 are recognized by an image processing camera 9 located under the recording medium 11 and then subjected to image processing. Subsequently, coordinates thereof are measured and the horizontal and vertical distances between them are calculated by image recognition coordinate difference. Finally, ejection angles of a main drop and a satellite composing the liquid drop are calculated based on the calculated distances. The calculated data is fed back to a recording head manufacturing process or stored in the recording head.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting the liquid ejection state of a liquid ejection head in which the direction of liquid being ejected from a top plate can be checked, in a short time, immediately after an ejection opening is made through the top plate and a correction value can be fed back immediately to the ejection opening making process depending on the check results. SOLUTION: A top plate 10 having an ejection opening 12 is secured in a liquid tank 1 mounted on a moving stage 9 by means of a top plate securing mechanism 20 and liquid 7 is injected into the liquid tank 1. Subsequently, the liquid 7 is applied with a pressure for forming a continuous flow-out state by supplying compressed air breaking meniscus at the ejection opening thus flowing out the liquid continuously from the ejection opening 12. Flux 13 of the flowing water is observed and measured by an observing/measuring system 30 and the ejecting direction and angle of the liquid are measured. The measurements are fed immediately back to an ejection opening making process thus adjusting the ejection opening forming angle to a regular value.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a liquid jet recording head in which recording liquid jetting efficiency is enhanced by equalizing the depth of a liquid channel at the outer circumferential part to that at the central part when the liquid channel is made by irradiating laser light through a laser mask. SOLUTION: When a liquid channel is made by irradiating laser light through a laser mask 1, an opening pattern for making the liquid channel is formed in the laser mask 3 by a laser light perfect permeating part 3 and a coating layer 4 permeating the laser light by 50%. Energy density of laser light machining the outer circumferential part of the liquid channel is set lower that of laser light machining the central part of the liquid channel by reducing the laser light by the coating layer 4. According to the method, the liquid channel can be machined by laser light without causing difference in the depth from place to place and jet efficiency can be enhanced by decreasing the recording liquid jetting resistance.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid ejection recording head having a good printing characteristic whereby an ejection nozzle can be processed by emission of a laser light without generating debris stuck to an ink ejection face and burr on an edge section of the ejection nozzle. SOLUTION: There is disclosed a liquid ejection recording head comprised of a top plate 10 having an ejection nozzle plate 1. An elastic body 4 made of silicon rubber is pressed against the ejection nozzle plate 1 along the shape thereof at a portion where an ejection nozzle 2 is to be formed. An excimer- laser light L is emitted thereto from a side opposite the face to which the elastic body 4 is pressed so that the ejection nozzle 2 for ejecting a liquid such as an ink is formed. As a result, it is possible to prevent debris 3 from being stuck to an ink ejection face 1a and to decompose to remove a cover part of the ejection nozzle 2 so that burr is not generated on an edge section of the ejection nozzle 2.
