Abstract: The soft-surfaced pressure roller is pressed vertically against a hard, heated roller - or vertically between two hard, heated rollers - when fixing is in progress. The present arrangement reduces this pressure while leaving the rollers in light contact and rotating at all other times. The driving gear of the lowest of the rollers is mounted on a pivoted frame on which it can drop down from the other rollers. It is raised when required on a pair of gear wheels mounted on a pivoted arm. When the pressure is required, an electrically operated clutch first holds the lowest of the auxiliary wheels on its axle - on which, till then, it had been free to turn. The drive on the raising wheel, which is in mesh with this lowest wheel, now turns the pivoted arm, raising the roller's driving gear on its pivoted frame.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus has a rotatable member, a plurality of processing devices for forming an image on the rotatable member and transferring the image to transfer material, a device for fixing the transferred image, circuitry for controlling the operation of the rotating member and processing devices so that when the power switch is turned on at least the fixing device is turned on and when the power switch is turned off the fixing device is turned off while the rotation of the rotatable member is continued. The apparatus also includes a signal generating device associated with one of the processing devices, a first detector for detecting transfer material and a second detector for detecting the position of an original carriage, and circuitry for checking for a paper jam by counting signals from the time of the second detector signal. The apparatus also includes a detector for detecting the home position of the original carriage, setting structure for setting the carriage to the home position and resetting structure for preventing the start of processing immediately upon operation of a manual start switch.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the copying speed of an image forming device and to reduce the size by performing image formation through an electric system for the 1st time, switching a conveyance path and using a transfer material after transfer as an original, and forming an original image directly on a photosensitive body for the 2nd and succeeding times. CONSTITUTION:When an image processing part 42 receives an external electric signal, a rotary mirror 9 is positioned at a chained-line position under the control of a control part and the electric signal is converted into an exposure image by a laser scanner 43; and the image is formed on a drum type photosensitive body 2, transferred to the transfer material S, and fixed by a fixing part 22. The transfer material is guided to a flapper 33 positioned at a full-line position, and guided to the conveyance path 32 and conveyed to an original platen 3. When a detection sensor 31 detects the passing of the rear end of the transfer material, the flapper 33 is positioned at a broken-line position. Then, the rotary mirror 9 is positioned at a full-line position, the transfer material S mounted at a specific position is used as an original for the 2nd and succeeding copying processes to take copies not through the electric system E, and the transfer material S after transfer is discharged to a discharge tray 27.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To accommodate a sheet in reversed state into a tray from a discharge transport passage by installing a reversal transport passage between a pair of rollers and the discharge transport passage and installing a pair of transport rollers which can be revolved normally and reversely, in close to the reversal transport passage. CONSTITUTION:The captioned apparatus is constituted of guides 32 and 33 for receiving the sheet transported from a pair of rollers 23 and 25, reversal transport passage 35, two pairs of transport rollers 36 and 37 at the front and rear which are arranged close to the transport passage 35 and consist of two rollers 36a, 36b, and 37a, 37b which can be revolved normally and reversely, and a discharge transport passage 40 equipped with a pair of discharge rollers 39 consisting of two rollers 39a and 39b on the downstream side, and the normal and reverse revolution of the pair of transport rollers 36 and 37 are controlled by a sheet detecting sensor 41. Therefore, the sheet transported from the pair of folding rollers is introduced into the reversal transport passage 35 from the top edge side, and after the whole sheet is introduced, the sheet is transported into the discharge transport passage from the rear edge by the reversal of the pair of transport rollers 36 and 37, and the sheet is reversed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage and early abrasion by upwardly transferring the trunnion accommodated at the scooping-up position of a supporting frame in succession by the scooping-up projection of a transfer groove by the revolution of a transfer ring, thus permitting the certain transfer of the trunnion without using a spring. CONSTITUTION:When a copying paper sheet is loaded, the right and left transfer apparatuses 13 and 13' revolve at an equal speed on the basis of the detection of a paper-passing detecting switch, and a transfer ring 29 revolves in the direction A, and the trunnion 15a of a bin tray 3a on the uppermost stage at the position close to a slot 29a is scooped-up by a scooping-up projection 29b and engaged with the slot 29a, and the trunnion 15a is transferred upward along a guide groove 36 by the slot 29a, accompanied by the revolution of the transfer ring 29. When the trunnion 15a is transferred upeard, it contacts with the upper surface of a supporting frame 39, which is slid by the diameter portion of the trunnion, and also the lower trunnions 15b-15e are suspended onto the supporting frame 39, and the trunnion 15b of the bin tray 3b on the second stage is held in the vicinity of the transfer ring 29.
