A light emission area of at least one light emitting section is different from that of the other.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element having high-luminance and long- life light output by including a metal complex compound in at least one layer among organic compound-containing layers clamped between a pair of electrodes consisting of a positive electrode and a negative electrode. SOLUTION: A metal complex compound uses a compound represented by formula I as a ligand. The coordinate metal is selected from Li, Na, K, Be, Mg, Ca, Ru, Zn, Al, Cd, Si, Ge, Sn, Eu, desirably. In the formula, each of R1-R5 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a nitro group, an amino group, a carbonyl group, an ether group, or a nitryl group, and two of the groups may form a fused ring. For example, a metal complex represented by formula II or the like is available. According to a vacuum deposition method or a solution applying method, an organic layer containing the metal complex compound is formed between a positive electrode and a negative electrode in an organic light emitting element. A thickness of the organic layer is thinly set below 2 μm, desirably. An inexpensive element with a large area can be provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a device by providing an element for supporting an organic compound layer between a positive electrode layer and a negative electrode layer on a substrate and covering it with a protective film of tantalum oxide. SOLUTION: A positive electrode layer 2, a positive hole transport layer 4, an electron transport layer 5, a negative electrode layer 3, and a protective layer 6 are laminated in the order on a substrate 1. The protective layer 6 covers the luminous element and protects an upper surface of the luminous element, having this lamination structure from moisture and oxygen in the atmosphere. The substrate 1 is provided for forming a luminous element on its surface, for example, a plate, sheet, or film formed from transparent insulating material of glass, such as soda lime glass or the like or synthesized resin. A lower surface side of the luminous element is protected from moisture and oxygen in the atmosphere by the glass substrate 1. High level of shut off from moisture and oxygen is provided by forming the protective film 6 of a tantalum oxide film. The protective film 6 of amorphous makes it difficult for cracks to enter. The film 6 can have higher level of shut off, since it has a higher membrane packing rate.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin, small and inexpensive image sensor with an organic EL element light source. SOLUTION: In the image sensor, a solid-state image pickup element 10 to which the reflected light of an original 28 is imputed and the reading driving circuit 20 of the solid-state image pickup element 10 are formed on a substrate 1. A thin film organic EL element 30 having a thickness almost equal to the substrate 1 and irradiating the original 28 with line light emission is formed on a transparent substrate 21. The transparent substrate 21 of the thin film organic EL element 30 is fixed to the side of the substrate 1 on a solid-state image pickup element 10 so that the surfaces of both substrates become almost coplanar. Then, a transparent thin plate 32 is integrated on the solid-state image pickup element 10 and the transparent substrate 21 by transparent adhesive 27.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high luminance element by imparting power in a specific range to an ITO film surface when the surface is modified by irradiating, on the ITO film, cations generated by an inert gas in a specific energy range. SOLUTION: In this surface treatment method, dirt in the surface region can be removed and a function (a charge injecting property) as an electrode of an organic light emitting element can be improved without causing the increase of the surface resistance of an ITO film by irradiating particles of which cation energy is 20-100 eV, desirably 30-60 eV with power of at least 10 mW/cm2 to 1 W/cm2 on the surface region within 5 nm in the depth direction of the ITO film. A surface treatment device is composed of a discharge lamp 2 composed by winding a high-frequency coil 3 around a quartz tube 4 in a chamber 1 and a substrate holder 6 to hold a substrate (ITO substrate) having the ITO film to be surface-treated. SOLUTION: A light emitting element array for yellow 200a, a light emitting element array for magenta 200b, the light emitting element array for cyanogen 200c and the light emitting element array for black 200d use one-chip light emitting element arrays arranged by covering the whole area of a main scanning distance D in a main scanning direction with respect to the rotation movement of photosensitive drums 1a to 1d. The one-chip light emitting element arrays use what are prepared from a single substrate and respectively cut-divided into four. The cost of the light emitting element array part of an image forming device is reduced to improve color reproducibility at a main scanning direction. In addition, as the light emitting characteristics of the respective single-chip light emitting element arrays are nearly equal, characteristic compensation between the respective element arrays is omitted.

A contact charging member with the magnetic brush part 23 holds a nonmagnetic conductive sleeve 21, a rotatable magnet roll 22 contained in the nonmagnetic conductive sleeve 21, and the magnetic brush part 23 of magnetic grain magnetically constrained and held to the outer surface of the nonmagnetic conductive sleeve 21 by the magnetic field of the magnet roll 22. In an opposed gap part between the nonmagnetic conductive sleeve 21 and the photoreceptor 1, the magnetic brush part 23 magnetically constrained and held to the outer peripheral surface of the nonmagnetic conductive sleeve 21 comes in contact with the surface of the photoreceptor 1 to form a charged nip part 2a.
