Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a reading unit, a determining unit, a converting unit, a recording unit, and a control unit. The reading unit moves sensors corresponding to a predetermined number of pixels aligned along a sub-scanning direction in a main scanning direction to read an image having a predetermined width of an original. The determining unit determines an area designated by a marker in the original in accordance with pixel data of a pixel read by the reading unit and pixel data of pixels surrounding the pixel. The converting unit converts the pixel data of the pixel read by the reading unit in accordance with a determination result from the determining unit. The recording unit drives recording elements corresponding to the predetermined number of pixels aligned along the sub-scanning direction in accordance with pixel data from the converting unit and moving the recording elements in the main scanning direction to record the image having the predetermined width on a sheet. The control unit moves the reading unit in the sub-scanning direction by a distance corresponding to pixels less than the predetermined number of pixels to perform a next main scanning operation after the reading unit completes a main scanning operation.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a reading unit, a determining unit, a converting unit, a recording unit, and a control unit. At a white original mode for the image read mode, the number of scanning times of image reading for reading one image is set to one time, and at full color original mode, the number of scanning times for image reading for reading one image is set to three times or to four times.

SOLUTION: This recording device comprises recording heads 301, 310-312, a carriage 302 on which the recording heads 301, 310-312 are mounted, a dirve device 309 which moves the carriage 302 bidirectionally along a scanning axis, a linear scale 303 with a black and white pattern arranged alternately in the scanning axis direction, an encoder head 304 which can move in the scanning axis direction to the linear scale 303 with the carriage 302 and outputs an electric signal showing two different states, from the linear scale 303, in response to the movement a described, a delaying part 207 which outputs the electric signal from the head 304 after the electric signal from the head 304 changes its state by a previously set number of times and a delaying part 206 which outputs the signal from the delaying part 207 by delaying the signal by a preset time. Thus the recording action is performed by the timing of the signal from the delaying part 306.

SOLUTION: Since a printer is provided with both a reader controller 106 and a printer controller 2103, there is the possibility of simultaneous occurrence of output requests from both the controllers. For example, this is the case that the user coming to the printer desires copying and operates the reader controller 106 while the printer controller 2103 executes a printer output. The printer has an interrupt output function in preparation for the case above. That is, based on preset output priority, the printer permits an interrupt output for a job having higher priority than that of an output job by interrupting tentatively the job during execution.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate the type of a recording medium which is carried by simple constitution by detecting transmitted light quantity obtained by projecting light emitted from a light emission part toward the recording medium through a shielding member having a passing groove and arithmetically operating it. SOLUTION: A shielding plate 202 having a slit hole is arranged between a light source 201 and the recording medium 200. The light emitted from the light source 201 arrives at the medium 200 except the part thereof shielded by the plate 202. Then, the light is attenuated according to the density, the thickness and the color of the medium 200. A light receiving sensor 203 is held by the holding part 204 of a scanning carriage so as to scan the medium 200 before a printing action is started. Based on data detected by the sensor 203, the characteristic data of light quantity is arithmetically operated by a CPU 100. Then, the arithmetically operated characteristic data of the light quantity is compared with the characteristic data of the light quantity stored in a memory 207 and the type of the medium 200 being carried is discriminated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image magnification circuit and image processing unit in which deterioration in image quality by magnification processing is prevented. SOLUTION: In a timing chart where a magnification of 150% is conducted by an image magnification circuit converting binarized image data to a predetermined magnification, an FIFO pattern is generated by an FIFO pattern generator (not shown) so that RE* is zero in a timing when a 257-th picture element (D256) with a deteriorated spectral characteristic is received. Thus, the 257-th picture element (D256) is not read twice in the FIFO (not shown). On the other hand, in the case of reduction (not shown), WE* is set to 1 to generate the FIFO pattern so as not to read the 257-th picture element.
