It also provides processes for oxidation of olefins to carbonyl products, comprising mixing an olefin with an aqueous catalyst solution. It also provides processes for oxidation of olefins to carbonyl products by dioxygen, comprising mixing an olefin with an aqueous catalyst solution, and further comprising mixing dioxygen with the aqueous catalyst solution. In certain reaction mixtures and related processes of the present invention, the concentration of dissolved olefin in the aqueous catalyst solution is effective for its oxidation rate to not be limited by its rate of its diffusion into the aqueous solution. In other reaction mixtures and related processes of the present invention, the concentration of dissolved olefin in the aqueous catalyst solution is effective for its oxidation rate to be proportional to the palladium catalyst concentration. In other processes of the present invention, the olefin is mixed with the aqueous catalyst solution under mixing conditions effective for providing an olefin oxidation rate of at least 1 (millimole olefin/liter solution)/second. In other processes of the present invention, dioxygen is mixed with an aqueous reduced vanadium-polyoxoanion solution under mixing conditions effective for providing a dioxygen reaction rate of at least 1 (millimole dioxygen/liter solution)/second. In other reaction mixtures and related processes of the present invention, the aqueous solution is essentially free of sulfuric acid and sulfate ions.

    Abstract: 2077550 9113681 PCTABS00007 The present invention provides a process for the preparation of acidic aqueous solutions consisting essentially of phosphomolybdovanadate salts. Certain processes of the present invention dissolve in water an oxide, oxoacid, or mixtures thereof, and at least one oxoanion salt of phosphorus, molybdenum, and vanadium, wherein the sum of salt cationic charges does not exceed the sum of the phosphomolybdovanadate anionic charges in the solution. Other processes of the present invention dissolve in water a) an oxide, oxoacid, oxoanion salt, or mixtures thereof of phosphorus, molybdenum, and vanadium and b) a carbonate salt, bicarbonate salt, hydroxide salt or mixtures thereof, wherein the sum of salt cationic charges does not exceed the sum of the phosphomolybdovanadate anionic charges in the solution. The present invention also provides processes for the preparation of solid phosphomolybdovanadate salts by evaporating the so produced aqueous solutions to recover essentially all the dissolved phosphomolybdovanadate salt in solid form.
