Abstract: Novel cycloaliphatic diallyl ethers Novel, unsubstituted or alkyl-substituted diallyl ethers of the diols of 1,1'-dicyclohexane are produced by reaction of the diols with allyl chloride or allyl bromide. The novel diallyl ethers are valuable starting materials for producing epoxy resins as well as valuable monomers which can be converted alone or in admixture with other polymerizable monomers into crosslinked polymers.

Abstract: The invention relates to polyepoxides which are obtainable by reacting compounds of formula I (I) wherein n is 1 or 2, and X, if n is 1, is a group R3, or, if n is 2, X is a group of the formula each of R1 and R3 independently of the other is C1-C4alkyl, C1-C4alkoxy, allyl, a halogen atom or C6-C10aryl and R2 is allyl, 1-propenyl or 2-propenyl, with compounds containing phenolic OH groups, and subsequently epoxidizing the resultant adducts in the presence of a peracid. Said polyepoxides can be used, together with customary epoxy resin hardeners, for the preparation of cured products, in particular for coating electronic components, or as adhesives.

Abstract: 1,5-Dimethyl-1,2;5,6-diepoxycyclooctane is prepared by epoxidising 1,5-dimethylcycloocta-1,5-diene with aqueous peracetic or perpropionic acid at a temperature not exceeding 50.degree.C and within a pH range from 1.5 to 5.5. The diepoxide according to the invention can be cured by means of curing agents for epoxide resins to give moulded materials having valuable mechanical properties. It is also suitable for use as a reactive, latent diluent.

Abstract: The invention relates to compounds of the formula I or II (I) +TR (II) +TR in which A is a radical R1 is hydrogen or methyl, R2 is the radical of an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic diol after both of the hydroxyl groups have been removed, R3, R4, R5 and R6 independently of one another are hydrogen, C1-C6alkyl, chlorine or bromine, R7 is a radical of the formula III, IV, V or VI (III) (IV) (V) (VI) R8, R10, R12 and R14 are hydrogen, C1-C6alkyl or phenyl, R9, R11, R13 and R15 are hydrogen or C1-C6alkyl and the average value of n (number average) is a number from 1 to 20, it being possible for the radicals R1 to R15, within a given molecule, to assume different meanings within the scope of the definitions given. These compounds or also the epoxidized intermediates of the formula X (X) in which R1 to R3 are defined above and R7 is a radical of the formula IV or VI can be processed to give cured products having a high glass transition temperature and a low tendency to discoloration.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of allyl ethers of the formula R?O-CH2-CH=CH22)n in which R and n are as defined in claim 1, by reacting hydroxy compounds of the formula R?OH)n with allyl chloride or allyl bromide by phase transfer catalysls, 0.8 to 5 mols of allyl chloride or allyl bromide, 1 to 6 mols of aqueous or solid sodium hydroxide and, as the phase transfer catalyst, 2 to 20 mol % of a quaternary ammonium salt, a quaternary ammonium base or a crown ether being employed per hydroxl equivalent of the compound of the formula II, and the reaction being carried out in the temperature range from 20 to 100.degree.C.

The compounds can preferably be used as matrix resins for composite materials. The phthalic anhydrides which are substituted by 2-propynyloxy, of the formula I, can be used for curing epoxy resins, cured products with outstanding physical properties being obtained.
