Abstract: 1,166,679. Magnetostatic relays. C.I.TCOMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS. 22 Dec., 1966 [24 Dec., 1965], No. 57575/66. Heading H3B. A magnetostatic relay can be controlled either by signals applied to the base of transistor TR 1 or by signals applied to windings 2, 3, 4. In the absence of a positive signal on line f c the device operates as a conventional magnetostatic relay, the transistor providing an output only when the potential at point M is negative. If a positive signal is applied to point N by way of line f c the transistor is blocked and no output is produced, whatever the potential at M. Pulse trains having different frequencies may be applied to lines f 1 C 1 , f 2 C 2 , f n C n , the output from the magnetic amplifier then being sampled only when the resultant potential at N becomes negative due to the absence of signals on line f c . The frequency of sampling is determined by the lowest of the frequencies on lines f 1 C 1 ,f 2 C 2 and f n C n . If a large output current is required R 2 and R L are made relatively small, but since a low value for R 2 results in the potential at M becoming negative shortly after removal of a positive signal on line f c , in spite of capacitor C which tends to maintain the potential at M, the sampling period must be short. If R 2 is made larger the output is smaller but no limitation is placed on the sampling period.
