Abstract:
Capstan drive arrangement for high speed intermittent tape drive, including a motor driven capstan, an idler roller carried on a lever arm, and an electromagnet selectively operable to pivot the level about its axis to urge the idler roller towards the capstan to produce a tape driving pinch. The level arm is arranged so that when the electromagnet is not operated, the idler roller contacts the tape with substantially negligible pressure. The drive arrangement also includes a damping system having an elastically deformable connection between the lever arm and a rod having a side surface held in contact with a fixed abutment by a pusher.
Abstract:
A tape punching and reading device having a series of punches which are selectively controlled by a cam element common to all of the punches. A three-armed lever is provided, one arm of which engages the cam element, the second arm is electro-magnetically coupled to an electormagnet, and the third arm has an additional lever pivotally mounted thereon which is interposed between the cam element and the individual punches to effect the punching operation. A photo-electric scanner is provided to read a perforation receiving line of the tape one increment of tape advance beyond the individual punch elements.
Abstract:
An automatic selector for a data transmission line corrector selectively inserts a plurality of correctors in sequence in the line and measures the bipolarity errors associated with each corrector. The corrector which provides the least error is then connected to the line for purposes of that transmission.
Abstract:
Device for automatically correcting a code, forming an improvement to a device which combines, in a single unit, means for perforating a paper tape which moves step-by-step, and for reading the code which has just been perforated during the preceding step, this improvement consisting of automatically correcting any code which has been erroneously perforated by causing the tape to step back to the location of the error and either correcting the error or voiding and re-perforating the code at a new location.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the field of point-to-point communications in a network of stations equipped for selective calling. It concerns a coding system partially of the numerical types, partially of the analogical type, combined with a device for enabling maximum output at the transmission level. The main applications are in mobile communications, in particular, between airplanes.
Abstract:
A radio transmitter-receiver including means for automatically adjusting the transmission level so as to bring the reception level in an associated transmitter-receiver receiving such transmission into a range limited at a lower end by a reference reception level by means of an attenuator providing a stepped variable attenuation level and controlled by a signal frequency received from the associated transmitter-receiver; and means for transmitting a signal frequency selected from a set of such frequencies in accordance with the level at which a transmission from the associated transmitter-receiver is received by means of a selector device comprising a set of threshold circuits corresponding to thresholds between said reference reception level and a saturation level limiting the range at an upper end.
Abstract:
An electromechanical device for a tape winding mechanism which adapts the step-by-step advance at very high speed and at low inertia to the control of the winding and unwinding spools which have a great inertia, in the case where the band must be periodically stopped for an instant, including lightweight pulley arrangements responsive to starting and stopping operations for automatically providing the required slack in the tape to overcome the difficulties created by the high inertia of the spools and wherein vibrations in the pulley arrangements are reduced to the maximum possible extent by the provision of pairs of coil spring members connected between the actuating solenoids and the pivot arms for the pulleys so that the required slack in the tape can be provided at high speed without harmful vibration.

Abstract:
Improvement in equipment used for making a telephone connection comprising a path on conductors and a radio path, such equipment being made less sensitive to parasitic disturbances due to a great reduction in the band required for transmitting a control signal supplied by an envelope detector and a syllabic detector.
