Abstract: 1,168,250. Telegraphy; Pulse duration discriminating. C.I.T. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS. 19 Jan., 1967 [26 Jan., 1966], No. 2906/67. Headings H3T and H4P. A circuit for controlling a teleprinter in accordance with signals on a transmission line, particularly for disconnecting the apparatus at the end of a message, comprises first and second switching circuits actuated by a positive signal on the line to charge a capacitor and energize a relay, the receipt of a negative signal changing over the first circuit but the second circuit remaining in its actuated state until the capacitor has discharged to a predetermined level so that de-energization of the relay is delayed. In Fig. 2, the first circuit comprises transistors TR1, TR2 which are normally off but are turned on by a positive signal on the line RON applied through telegraph relay RT. Conduction of TR2 turns off the normally conducting transistor TR3, which forms the " second circuit " above, and allows conduction in TR4 and TR5. Relay M is then energized to connect the telegraph receiving apparatus (not shown) to the line and also close contact m1 to start the charging of capacitor C. During reception of a message, the " start " bit of the code is always negative so that the conduction states of transistors TR1 and TR2 will change at least once during the transmission of each code combination. When TR2 ;s cut off the capacitor discharges through R1, R2 and R3. If the line RON assumes zero or negative potential for more than a certain time, e.g. 1500 ms., the capacitor discharges sufficiently to allow TR3 to conduct, when TR4 and TR5 are cut off to de-energize relay M and disconnect the apparatus from the line.

Abstract: 1,100,206. Controlled non-linear inductors; switching circuits. CIT-COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS. 28 April, 1965 [3 June, 1964], No. 17968/65. Headings H3B and H3T. A non-contact-making relay circuit for use as a telegraph monitoring relay delivers a steady D.C. output at terminal S 1 when a signal is applied to a control winding c of a magnetic amplifier and when the signal ceases the output is discontinued after a delay depending on the time constant of C 2 , R 2 and R 3 . An electromagnetic relay may be connected to terminal S 1 . Diode D 4 is to protect transistor TRN 2 from overloads.
