Abstract:
The invention is directed to a new material useful in oral care products such as dental floss or as a toothbrush bristle. The material is a silicon-modified polyamide blended with a different polyamide material. The preferred different polyamide material is the conventional material used to make bristles of toothbrushes. The different polyamide material is preferably a nylon material.
Abstract:
This invention comprises a clear to translucent anhydrous stick or gel antiperspirant and/or deodorant product having low tack and comprising:(a) a solvent phase comprising: (i) 0.2-4.0 weight % dibenzylidene sorbitol; (ii) 0.05 - 1.0 weight % of a co-gellant or structural integrity enhancer; (iii) 25-75 weight % of a solvent selected from the group consisting of polyhydric alcohols; (iv) an effective amount of an antiperspirant or deodorant; and (v) 0.1-5 weight % dimethicone copolyol; and (b) an oil phase comprising: (i) 0.25-5 weight % of a silicone elastomer (on a solids basis) in a first dimethicone wherein the dimethicone has a viscosity in the range of 6-100 centistokes and a flashpoint in the range of about greater than 115 degrees C to 300 degrees C; and (ii) 1-25 weight % of a second dimethicone (including the dimethicone from part (b)(i)), wherein the second dimethicone may be selected from the same group or a different group than the first dimethicone; and (iii) 0-10 weight % emollients; wherein the oil phase is 5-50% of the composition and the solvent phase is 50-95% of the composition.
Abstract:
An oral composition comprising in an orally acceptable vehicle, an effective antiplaque amount of an halogenated diphenyl ether or phenolic antibacterial compound, and an amount of a mixed anionic/nonionic surfactant system at weight ratios of about 14:1 to 9:1 which ratios are effective to increase the uptake of the antibacterial compound to dental tissue so as to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of the administered antibacterial compound.

Abstract:
A low residue, stable antiperspirant and/or deodorant composition is disclosed which comprises: (a) a dimethicone/vinyldimethicone crosspolymer composition made by reacting a polymethylhydrogensiloxane with an alpha, omega-divinylpolydimethyl siloxane for which the dimethicone/vinyldimethicone crosspolymer composition is used at a concentration of 0.5-10 % in cyclomethicone; (b) polyethylene beads having a density in the range of 0.91-0.98 grams/cm3 and a particle size in the range of 5-40 microns, wherein the polyethylene beads are used in an amount of at least 2 % by weight based on the total weight of the composition; (c) a volatile silicone; (d) an emollient or mixture of two or more emollients; and (e) an effective amount of an antiperspirant active material.
Abstract:
A low residue, stable antiperspirant and/or deodorant composition is disclosed which is made by combining: (a) a cyclomethicone (and) dimethicone crosspolymer made with an Si-H containing polysiloxane and an alpha, omega-diene of formula CH2=CH(CH2)xCH=CH2 which crosspolymer has a viscosity in the range of 50,000-3,000,000 centipoise, preferably with a nonvolatiles content of 8-18 % in cyclomethicone; (b) polyethylene beads having a density in the range of 0.91-0.98 grams/cm3 and a particle size in the range of 5-40 microns; (c) a volatile silicone; (d) an emollient (or a mixture of two or more emollients) which may include a non-volatile silicone and an additional amount of a volatile silicone; and (e) an effective amount of an antiperspirant active material in an amount sufficient to have an antiperspirant and/or a deodorant effect.
Abstract:
A dual component tooth whitening composition is disclosed, which composition contains a peroxide whitening and a second ingredient incompatible with the peroxide compound such as a nonionic antibacterial agent, the second ingredient and the peroxide compound each being incorporated in separate dentrifice components which are physically separated until dispensed for use, the components retaining their original physical state when in contact, the first component being a composition containing a peroxide whitening compound in a vehicle thickened with a combination of a particulated water insoluble inorganic compound such as for example a inorganic compound such as fumed silica or Laponite and an organic thickener other than an alkylene oxide polymer such as for example a carboxyl vinyl polymer, and the second component containing the ingredient incompatible with the peroxide.
