Abstract:
Disclosed is an oral care implement, comprising: a body comprising a handle and a head at an end of the handle; the body having a cavity therein for storing an oral care fluid; the head having at least one oral care element extending therefrom, and a fluid outlet through which the oral care fluid is dispensable to an exterior of the oral care implement; a passageway fluidly connecting the cavity with the fluid outlet; a mechanism for introducing air into the cavity from the exterior of the oral care implement; and a control valve on the head movable relative to the head between a first position for preventing fluid flow from the cavity through the fluid outlet and a second position for permitting fluid flow from the cavity through the fluid outlet.
Abstract:
A personal care implement includes a treatment device having a longitudinal axis and including a treatment portion having at least one treatment element; a connection portion having a main body and a first resilient snap attachment protruding from the main body, the main body formed of a first material having a first hardness and the first resilient snap attachment formed of a second material having a second hardness, the first hardness being greater than the second hardness; and the treatment device is alterable between: (1) a detached state; and (2) an assembled state in which the treatment device is detachably coupled to a grip section such that the first resilient snap attachment cooperates with and engages a first engagement portion of the grip section to secure the treatment device to the grip section.
Abstract:
An oral care implement that includes a handle and a head. Cleaning elements are coupled to the head and extend from the front surface of the head. At least one of the cleaning elements is a first type of cleaning element that extends from a first end to a second end along a longitudinal axis and has a polygonal transverse cross-sectional shape. The first type of cleaning element has an outer surface having a plurality of elongated faces and a plurality of elongated edges. The first type of cleaning element is formed from a first component and a second component, the first and second components being different in at least one characteristic. An interface of the first and second components is located along at least one of the elongated edges.
Abstract:
In some embodiments an oral care implement herein may be embodied as a toothbrush having a head disposed at a distal end of a handle. The head may include a fixed bristle support and at least two movable bristle supports, movable relative to the fixed bristle support and relative to each other. An actuator is disposed to actuate the movable bristle supports between a brushing position in which bristles on the fixed bristle support and the movable bristle supports are substantially parallel and an interdental cleaning position in which the movable bristle supports are moved relative to each other such that the bristles on the movable bristle supports are angled toward each other. In the interdental cleaning position, the bristles may form a point or similar bristle tip, which may be useful for interdental cleaning.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, an oral care implement includes a housing, a power source, and a plurality of conductive protrusions extending from a surface of the housing. Also disclosed are methods of using the oral care implement, for example, for treating conditions in the oral cavity.
Abstract:
An oral care kit includes a sachet having a ring shaped reservoir for an oral care material configured around a central opening. The sachet has a first weakened portion for forming a dispensing nozzle. The oral care kit also includes an oral care implement sized so that a portion of the oral care implement fits through the central opening. The oral care implement is configured to be used to tear the first weakened portion of the reservoir.
Abstract:
An oral car implement (100) having a decorative member (150) recessed in a handle (120) of the oral care implement and having at least a portion thereof exposed via an aperture (140), and a method of forming the same. In one aspect, the invention can be an oral care implement (120) comprising: a handle having a longitudinal axis and a head (110) connected to the handle; the handle comprising a first transverse section (122) and a second transverse section (121), the first transverse section coupled to the second transverse section; a decorative member disposed between the first transverse section and the second transverse section; and an aperture extending through the first transverse section that exposes at least a portion of the decorative member.
Abstract:
A package for an oral care implement. The package may have an exposed outer surface, a package portion forming a first portion of the exposed outer surface, and a reusable cap forming a second portion of the exposed outer surface. The package portion may define a first cavity and the reusable cap may define a second cavity. The package portion may be formed by a backer panel and a cover panel that are coupled together to define the first cavity. The reusable cap may have a flange that is sandwiched between the backer panel and the cover panel to secure the reusable cap to the package portion. A personal care implement may be disposed within the package so that a first portion of personal care implement is located within the first cavity and a second portion of the personal care implement is located within the second cavity.
Abstract:
An oral care implement in one embodiment includes an elongated body comprising a head portion supporting plurality of tooth cleaning elements and a handle portion. The tooth cleaning elements are disposed on longitudinally extending bristle carrier sections hingedly coupled together about a common pivot axis. The axis may be formed by a flexible web. A slidable actuator mounted in the handle portion is mechanically coupled to the bristle carrier assembly by an elongated operating rod. Moving the actuator in opposing rearward and forward directions opens or folds the bristles on the carriers outwards or inwards respectively about the common pivot axis. In the folded position, the bristles are configured for interdental cleaning of the teeth. In the open or extended position, the bristles are configured for general purpose cleaning of the teeth.
Abstract:
A toothbrush handle includes a support structure formed of clarified polypropylene and a body formed of thermoplastic elastomer disposed on the support structure. The support structure includes a web having a thickness in a first direction orthogonal to an axis of the toothbrush handle of less than 2 millimeters and at least one rib depending from the web and having a thickness in a second direction, orthogonal to the axis and angled relative to the first direction, of less than about 2 millimeters. The body at least partially covers the web and the at least one rib. The handle has a light transmissivity of greater than 40% through a portion of the handle at which the body covers the web and the at least one rib.
