Abstract:
An oral care compositions comprises a water-soluble calcium salt, a fluoride-providing agent, and a chelating agent. Methods of treating or preventing dental caries are also provided.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for fluoridating teeth using a two-component dentifrice system in which the first component is stable, semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a fluoride ion releasable hydrolyzable complex fluoride compound such as sodium fluorosilicate, in an aqueous vehicle in which xanthan gum is the major thickening agent and glycerin, sorbitol or mixtures thereof are the humectant, and the second component is a semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a calcium ion releasable compound and an abrasive in an aqueous vehicle containing xanthan gum as the major thickener and glycerin, sorbitol or mixtures thereof as the humectant. The first and the second dentifrice compounds are maintained separate from the other until mixed for application to teeth.
Abstract:
Preparation of a visually clear gel dentifrice comprising a precipitated silica polishing agent having a refractive index of about 1.44, a water-swellable synthetic anionic polycarboxylate polymer which is added in solid form and a liquid vehicle comprising water and sorbitol wherein (a) when the total water content is above 30 % to about 33 % by weight of said dentifrice, sorbitol on a neat basis is present in amount of above 30 % to about 36 % by weight of said dentifrice, (b) when the total water content is about 27 % up to below 30 % by weight of said dentifrice, sorbitol on a neat basis is present in amount of about 20 % up to below 30 % by weight of said dentifrice and other humectant if present, is in neat amount of up to 15 % by weight of said dentifrice and also adding to said liquid vehicle about 1-4 % by weight of dentifrice of solid water-swellable synthetic anionic polycarboxylate polymer.
Abstract:
A two component effervescent dentifrice composition, having a first alkali metal bicarbonate containing component which also contains a naturally occurring alkyl vanillyamide such as capsaicin and a second acid-containing dentifrice component; the first and second components being separated prior to use, whereupon when combined upon application to the teeth the dentifrice provides an enhanced sensory signal.

Abstract:
A method for forming a striped dentifrice wherein a first dentifrice which appears unstriped when stored in a container having sidewalls at least a portion of which is transparent, is transformed into a striped dentifrice upon extrusion from the container, which method comprises storing the first dentifrice in the container provided with discharge means and striping means within the discharge means, sequentially filling the container with a striping dentifrice having a color which distinguishes the striping dentifrice from the first dentifrice, the striping dentifrice being stored in an area of the container separate from the first dentifrice, followed by filling the container with the first dentifrice, apllying pressure on the dentifrices to cause the striping dentifrice to be applied to the first dentifrice within the container area in which the second dentifrice is stored and be simultaneously extruded together from the container, so that upon extrusion, the extruded dentifrice appears to have been magically transformed into a striped body.
