Abstract: This application provides, among other things, novel aqueous biphasic oral care compositions comprising two distinct aqueous phases, useful for combining and delivering poorly compatible ingredients, for example to deliver effective levels of cationic antibacterial agents in combination with anionic polymers, e.g. that protect against erosion and staining, by addition of a stabilizing amount of a polyamine, e.g. lysine, and methods for making and using the same.

Abstract: This invention provides, amongst other things, a preservative system for aqueous oral care compositions that comprises the addition of one or more quaternary ammonium antimicrobial agents (e.g., cetyl pyridinium chloride (CPC)) in combination with comprising benzyl alcohol in a preservative system, can surprisingly allow for the use of relatively less benzyl alcohol while still maintaining antimicrobial efficacy and not adversely affecting the flavor of the composition. The added benefit in using relatively less benzyl alcohol, in addition to lower cost and expense, is also that the flavor or the overall composition is less impacted.
