    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an audio program corresponding to listener's taste after listening to an audio sample by reproducing received audio information when that audio information is composed of audio samples or storing the audio information in a memory when that audio information is composed of audio programs. SOLUTION: A reproduction controller 6 of an audio receiver 1 supplies any one of audio sample from a board 6A or audio program from a board 28 to a speaker 14. When the audio information is an audio sample, for example, a reception controller 7 simultaneously transmits the audio sample through a bus for raw data to an input board 6A of the reproduction controller 6 and supplies the audio sample to the speaker 14. When the audio information is an audio program, the reception controller 7 transmits the audio program through a bus 12 for storage data to a memory 13 and preserves the audio program there. Thus, after the audio information is preserved in the memory 13, a user can reproduce the audio program at any arbitrary time point as long as he/she desires.

    Abstract: In a system for centralized wireless broadcast of programs for local storage and playback on a receiver, an apparatus and method for providing information back to the broadcast service provider. The information is associated with signal and program quality reception at the receiver, and also the receiver user's program content consumption and receiver use patterns. The receiver records and stores events associated with program capture from a broadcast signal, program storage and memory management in the receiver, playback of the program by the user, receiver frequency and power control changes, received program quality, and other selected events of interest to the service provider. The receiver includes a recording unit that records the stored events on a removable information storage medium. The service provider distributes a removable storage medium to a user who inserts it into the recording unit, downloads the recorded events, and returns the medium to the provider for analysis.

    Abstract: Audio and/or video content is remotely stored in a database (10). A portion of the remotely stored content is transferred to and stored in a mobile on-demand audio and/or video content output device (12). In addition, a link is transferred to and stored in the mobile output device (12). The link is associated with the content portion stored in the output device (12) and points to another portion of the remotely stored content that is related to the content portion locally stored on the mobile device (12). In response to a user command entered on the mobile device (12), the related portion of the remotely stored content is accessed using two-way wireless communications system and is transferred from the database (10) to the mobile device (12) for output.
