    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of estimating electromagnetic field data. The method comprises: identifying at least one electromagnetic field source in a geographical region; identifying at least one transmission model for the at least one electromagnetic field source based upon electromagnetic field data corresponding to the at least one electromagnetic field source; identifying at least one propagation model for the at least one electromagnetic field source based upon the electromagnetic field data and geographical terrain of the geographical region; and generating electromagnetic field estimates based upon the electromagnetic field data, the at least one transmission model and the at least one propagation model.

    Abstract: A system is provided. The system comprises a radio frequency (RF) planning system, comprising: a first processing system; a first communications system coupled to the first processing system; at least one input / output device coupled to the first processing system; wherein the first processing system comprises first memory circuitry and first processor circuitry; and wherein the first processing system is configured to: receive proposed RF access system design criteria; synthesize an RF access system design; assess interference using shared spectrum system data and data about the synthesized RF access system design; determine if the proposed RF access system design criteria are acceptable based upon the interference assessment; and if the proposed RF access system design criteria are unacceptable, then adjust the proposed RF access system design criteria.

    Abstract: A method for selecting at least one channel for a network element in a shared spectrum communication system is provided. The method includes identifying a plurality of candidate channels of a frequency band of the shared spectrum communication system. For each channel of the plurality of channels, the method further includes: evaluating the channel based on one or more of a plurality of criteria for the network element; scoring the channel based on the evaluation of the channel for the network element; and ranking the plurality of candidate channels based on the assigned scores for each of the plurality of channels. The method further includes selecting at least one channel based on the ranking of the plurality of candidate channels.

    Abstract: A communication system is provided. The communication system includes a at least one baseband controller configured to process signals in a baseband frequency band. The communication system also includes at least one radio unit that is physically remote from the at least one baseband controller. Each radio unit includes a plurality of virtual radio units (VRUs) in a physical housing of the respective radio unit. Each radio unit also includes a fronthaul interface configured to communicate with the at least one baseband controller using a packet-based protocol on behalf of each VRU. Each radio unit also includes at least one radio frequency front end unit configured to transmit from and receive on behalf of each of the VRUs.
