Abstract: Automatic printing apparatus wherein an individual sheet item, initially bearing machine and human readable data, is utilized initially to identify and accumulate individual original data and thereafter is reemployed as a final repository for additional data from an external source of data. The original data is compared with the additional data to determine correspondence or lack thereof. Correspondence of the data produces a control output which causes the apparatus to print the additional data on the item and automatically to select an accept item receiving receptacle. Lack of correspondence between the original data and the additional data produces a control output automatically to select a reject item receiving receptacle.
