Abstract:
The processing of bauxite in the Bayer Process results in the formation of titanaceous, siliceous, and other scale on equipment and apparatus such that a great deal of time and effort is spent in order to maintain the process at its height efficiency by reducing or eliminating the same. The scale is treated, reduced, altered, etc., according to the present invention by the use of hydroxamated polymers having weight average molecular weights ranging from about 1,000 to less than about 10,000.
Abstract:
Water-soluble, branched, high molecular weight, cationic polymer flocculants are disclosed, as well as methods of making the same and methods of dewatering suspended solids using the same.
Abstract:
Synthetic cationic polymers are used as promoters for alkenyl succinic anhydride sizing. The addition of certain synthetic cationic polymers that are reactive with alkenyl succinic anhydride are shown to improve the sizing efficieny of the hydrophobic, cellulose sizing material in papermaking. Synthetic cationic polymers were intended to replace starch as an effective promoter in papermaking.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the aerobic reaction of compounds such as aromatic, nitro-aromatic, halo-aromatic, halo-nitro-aromatic, aliphatic and halo-aliphatic compounds with a microorganism, said microorganism being a member of the group consisting of microorganisms having ATCC Accession No. 55644, 55648, 55645, 55641, 55647, 55642, 55643, 55646, 55649, 55722, 55723, 55726, 55727, 55724 and 55725. More particularly, the present invention relates to the aerobic degradation of organic compounds in fluid or solid phase such that the compounds are bioremediated to products comprising CO2 and H2O. The present invention also relates to methods (and a composition) for obtaining microorganisms which aerobically degrade a variety of aliphatic and aromatic compounds.
Abstract:
Novel mono- and bis-benzothiazole sulfenamide compounds based on primary amines of formula (I) are provided, wherein R is selected from the group consisting of groups represented by formulae (i) and (ii) which may be employed as rubber vulcanization accelerators having excellent scorch safety. Vulcanizable rubber compositions containing rubber, sulfur and the novel benzothiazole sulfenamide compounds are also provided.
Abstract:
A non-yellowing one-package polyurethane coating composition containing a blocked polyisocyanate, an isocyanate-reactive material, and an imino-functional amino resin is provided. The coating composition is applied onto an acid-cured base coat and cured. The clear coat produced in this manner has good yellowness resistance and intercoat adhesion. Articles such as multi-layered coated substrates are prepared using the coating method of this invention. The coated substrates typically contain and acid-cured first layer and an adjacent layer derived from a curable composition containing an oxime-blocked polyisocyanate, an isocyanate-reactive material, and an imino-functional amino resin.
