PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that reliably records an image in consideration of a shutter time lag, as well as acquiring a best image while evaluating the condition of an object.SOLUTION: If a CPU 5 of a digital camera detects a full-press operation of a shutter button (step S2) during live view processing (step S1) in which a solid-state imaging element 13 captures images continuously, the CPU 5 starts accumulation of frame image data at the timing or when a half-press operation is detected (step S6). Then, on the basis of evaluation for the object based on face detection, eye detection, and blink detection and a time lag correction value for reduced luminance image data from the accumulated frame image data, and a specific frame image data is selected from among a plurality of the accumulated frame image data (step S9).

The CPU 5 controls the solid-state imaging element 13 to capture images continuously, and detects a recording instruction for images to be captured. SOLUTION: Whether or not an object movement discriminated at a step S104 is in a distance direction to a photographing direction (step S106). When the object movement is not in a distance direction, photographing operation is executed at continuous shooting speed A (step S108). When the object moves to a distance direction, the determination in step S106 is YES, and shifts to (2) focus operation follow-up type continuous shooting. In the (2) focus operation follow-up type continuous shooting, photographing operation is continued (step S110), and when no operation release of a full shutter is detected, focus follow-up operation and AE operation are executed (step S112). According to the result, speed is changed to a continuous shooting speed B which is slower than the continuous shooting speed A (step S113), and photographing operation is continued.
