    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer excellent in melt fluidity, injection moldability, chemical and heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, etc., and useful as a raw material for large-sized molded products, etc., by reacting a dihalogenobenzophenone with an alkaline metal salt of a dihydric phenol in the presence of a solvent. CONSTITUTION:(A) A dihalogenobenzophenone expressed by formula I (X is halogen) (e.g., 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone) is reacted with (B) an alkaline metal salt of a dihydric phenol expressed by formula II (M is alkaline metal; R1-R4 are H, halogen or 1-6C alkyl) in the presence of a solvent to afford the aimed copolymer having recurring units expressed by formula III (Ar is formula IV).

CONSTITUTION:(A) A dihalogenobenzophenone expressed by formula I (Y is halogen) (e.g., 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone) is reacted with (B) a mixture of (i) 1-99wt.% alkaline metal salt of a dihydric phenol expressed by formula II (M is alkaline metal; R1-R4 are H, halogen or 1-6C alkyl) with (ii) 99-1wt.% alkaline metal salt of a dihydric phenol expressed by formula III (R5-R8 are H, halogen or 1-5C alkyl; X is -O-, -CO-, -SO2-, -S-, -CnH2n-, -CnF2n-, formula IV or V; n is 1-10; p is 0 or 1) in the presence of a solvent to afford the aimed copolymer having recurring units expressed by formula VI (Ar is formula VII).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyether-imide copolymer of excellent melt flow property, comprising units having skeletons derived from two specified dihydric phenols. CONSTITUTION:This copolymer has repeating units of formula I, wherein the amount of Ar is 1-99wt.% and the amount of Ar' is 99-1wt.%. In formula I, Ar and Ar' are different from each other and are 24-44 C bivalent organic groups, R is a bivalent organic group selected from among a 6-20 C aromatic hydrocarbon group derived from an organic diamine or an organic diisocyanate, its halogenated derivative, an alkylene group, a cycloalkylene group, an alkylene group-terminated polyorganosiloxane and a group of formula II. In formula II, X is -O-, -S-, -CO-, -SO2-, -CyH2y or -CyZ2y-, y is an integer of 110, p is an integer of 0-10, Z is a halogen atom such as chlorine, fluorine or bromine, and R5-R8 are each a hydrogen atom or a 1-5C alkyl group. Ar and Ar' are each a bivalent organic group represented by formula III or IV (wherein R1-R4 are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a 1-5 C linear or branched alkyl group).
