    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce, by transesrification, a thermally stable high-molecular polycarbonate which does not discolor, contains no chlorine compd. causative of discoloration, and has no branched structure formed by side reaction. CONSTITUTION:The title polycarbonate has an intrinsic viscosity [eta] at 20 deg.C in methylene chloride of 0.2-1.0dl/g and a branching parameter G=[eta]/[eta]lin wherein [eta]lin is the intrinsic viscosity at 20 deg.C in methylene chloride of a linear polycarbonate having a wt.-average mol.wt., measured by the light-scattering method or by GPC using the general-purpose calibration curve, equal to that of the above linear polycarbonate of 0.8-1.0 and contains boric acid and/or its ester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject colorless polymer free from Cl causing coloring, having no branched structure formed by a side reaction by subjecting a dihydric phenol and a carbonic acid diester to molten transesterification by using a specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A dihydric phenol (preferably bisphenol A) is reacted with a carbonic acid diester (preferably diphenyl carbonate) by molten transesterification method by using a catalyst composed of a nitrogen-containing basic compound (e.g. pyridine) and an alkaline (earth) metal to give the objective polymer having 0.8-1 branch parameter of the formula G=[eta]/[eta]lin ([eta] is intrinsic viscosity in methylene chloride at 20 deg.C; [eta]lin is intrinsic viscosity of straight-chain polycarbonate having the same weight-average molecular weight measured by using light scattering method or GPC method using a general correction curve in methylene chloride at 20 deg.C. In the reaction, a compound such as methyl phenyl ether or diphenyl ether is present.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polylactone having a high melt tension and improved in moldability, its resin composition and its molded article. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a branched polylactone, a polylactone is subjected to a radiation treatment so that the inclination (α) of a plotted straight line expressed by logarithm (lnλn) of nonlinear parameter λn and elongation strain ε is in the range of 0.15-4.0 in the elongation viscosity measurement at the temperature 10 deg.C higher than the melting point. The polylactone composition comprises 100 parts by mass of the resin component comprising 5-100 mass % branched polylactone and 95-0 mass % linear polylactone and/or another thermoplastic resin and 0-70 parts by mass of fillers.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound, such as a high mol.wt. polylactone, excellent in color tone and stability, and useful for compost bags and the like in the presence of a small amount of a catalyst in a short time by subjecting a cyclic ester monomer to a ring-opening polymerization reaction in the presence of a specific catalyst system. SOLUTION: This method for producing an aliphatic polyester comprises subjecting (C) a cyclic ester monomer such as a lactone (e.g. ε-caprolactone) to a ring-opening polymerization reaction in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (A) a tin compound such as an alkyl tin compound having three or more less 1-24C alkyl groups (e.g. monobutyltin hydroxide oxide) and (B) an electron-donating compound such as an amide (e.g. N, N-dimethylacetamide). The aliphatic polyester is useful for fishing lines, golf tees, moldings, hot-melt adhesives and the like which utilize the biodegradability of the polyester. The component A is preferably used in an amount of 0.001-0.1 wt.% based on the total amount of the raw materials including the component C, and the component B is also preferably used in an amount of 0. 0003-1000 moles per mole of the component A.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polyimide film having a high imidation ratio at low temperature while keeping a shape of a film of a polyamic acid. CONSTITUTION:A film of a polyamic acid containing 7-30wt.% good solvent is immersed in an immersing liquid containing an acid anhydride, ethers and/or ketones to imidate the polyamic acid. The polyamic acid can be obtained by reaction of an tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride with an aromatic diamine. The film of the polyamic acid can be obtained by a casting method. The imidation ratio of the objective polyimide film can be further increased by immersing a film of polyamic acid in the immersing liquid and then subjecting the film to heat treatment at lower temperature than a glass transition temperature of a polyimide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a high-molecular polycarbonate which undergoes no discoloration, does not contain any chlorine ion causing discoloration, and has a degree of branching suited for producing, e.g. a hollow molding, and to provide a method of efficiently producing the polycarbonate. CONSTITUTION:A polycarbonate is produced by the transesterification of a dihydric phenol such as bisphenol A with a carbonic acid diester such as diphenyl carbonate in the presence of a polyfunctional organic compound as a branching agent and a basic nitrogen compound as a catalyst. Due to the use of the specific catalyst for the transesterification, the obtained polycarbonate contains no chlorine ion, which may cause discoloration, and has a specific degree of branching suited for producing, e.g. a hollow molding.
