Abstract: The present invention is a process for producing a polyester from a dicarboxylic acid and a diol, which comprises polycondensing the dicarboxylic acid and the diol under the presence of a distannoxane catalyst. Also, the present invention is a process for producing a polyester which comprises melt polycondensing the dicarboxylic acid and the diol under normal pressure in the presence of the distannoxane catalyst, wherein an organic solvent which dose not dissolve any of the dicarboxylic acid, the diol and the polyester produced from the dicarboxylic acid and the diol is present and, whereby, two phases are mainly present.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-MW chloride ion-free polycarbonate without using toxic phosgene by polycondensing a bisphenol with a specified carbonate by melting in the presence of an electron-donating amine compound catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A bisphenol is polycondensed with bis(2,4,6trichlorophenyl) carbonate, bis(2,4-dichlorophenyl) carbonate or bis(2-cyanophenyl) carbonate by melting in the presence of a catalyst selected from electron-donating amine compounds to obtain the purpose polycarbonate. Examples of the bisphenol used include compounds of formulas I-IV (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each H, a 1-8C linear or branched alkyl or a phenyl; X is a halogen atom; and n is 0-4). The temperature of the polycondensation reaction is desirably 130-250 deg.C. When this temperature is below 130 deg.C, the reaction rate is low, and when it is above 250 deg.C, side reactions are apt to occur.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation process of a polyester which easily yields a polymer having a high degree of polymerization with a little amount of catalyst without employing any high-boiling solvents or dehydration operations such as depressurization, etc. SOLUTION: In the presence of a distannoxane catalyst of the formula (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical to or different from each other and are each an alkyl group; and X and Y are identical to or different from each other and are each an isothiocyanate group, halogen atom, hydroxy group, alkoxy group or acyloxy group), a diol is polycondensed with a dicarboxylic acid to obtain a corresponding polyester. Here, the amount of diol used is about from 1.0 to 1.20 mol against 1 mol dicarboxylic acid. The polymer generated through polymerization is isolated through precipitation or re-precipitation in an alcohol such as methanol.

CONSTITUTION:A dihydric phenol [e.g. 2,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane] is reacted with bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl) carbonate or bis(2,3-dichlorophenyl) carbonate or bis(2-cyanophenyl) carbonate under an interfacial polycondensation polymerization condition of polycarbonate in the presence of a catalyst selected from electron donative amine compounds (e.g. N,N-dimethyl-4-aminopyridine).
