    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the above new composition excellent in balance between transparency, impact strength and fluidity by incorporating a styrene-based resin with each specified amount of rubbery particles and inorganic fine particles each having specific diameter. SOLUTION: This new composition is obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt. of a styrene-based resin with (B) 0.005-0.1 (pref. 0.01-0.03) pts.wt. of rubbery particles (pref. polybutadiene particles) 1.5-9 (pref. 6-7)μm in average diameter and (C) 0.001-0.5 (pref. 0.08-0.3) pts.wt. of inorganic fine particles 0.01-0.9 (pref. 0.03-0.3)μm in average diameter. The component A is pref. 150000-250000 or 300000-450000 in weight - average molecular weight determined by gel permeation chromatography. Use of barium sulfate as the component C improves both the transparency and impact resistance of the component A, therefore being favorable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten reaction time and simplify operation by adding bisphenols to a low-molecular bisphenol type epoxy resin and simultaneously subjecting a resin formed by the aforementioned reaction to ring opening polymerization with a lactonic compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) A low-molecular (hydrogenated) bisphenol type epoxy resin having 150-230 epoxy equiv., (B) (hydrogenated) bisphenols (e.g. bisphenol A) and (C) a lactonic compound (e.g. epsilon-caprolactone) are collectively charged to simultaneously carry out reaction for adding the component (B) to the component (A) and reaction for ring opening polymerization of the component (C) with OH groups in the resultant epoxy resin obtained by the above-mentioned reaction in the same reaction process. Thereby, the objective resin is obtained. Furthermore, the aforementioned two reactions are preferably simultaneously conducted by carrying out the reactions in the coexistence of a basic catalyst for adding the bisphenols such as pyridine and a catalyst such as tin octylate for the addition reaction of the lactonic compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensively an alkyd resin useful in the field of a coating resin or the like by reacting a polyalcohol comprising 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol with a polybasic acid (anhydride) and a vegetable oil (fatty acid). CONSTITUTION:2-Methyl-1,3-propanediol is optionally mixed with another polyalcohol to obtain a polyalcohol component, which is esterified with a polybasic acid (anhydride) (e.g. phthalic anhydride) and 0-50wt.% vegetable oil (fatty acid) (e.g. soybean fatty acid) in the presence of a catalyst at 130-280 deg.C while an azeotropic solvent for removing the formed water is added to obtain the title resin having a hydroxyl value of 10-300mgKOH/g and an acid value of 0.1-20mgKOH/g.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition that can manifest excellent transparency, fluidity when molding, and excellent face-shock properties, enables the molding products to be wall-thinned and weight-lightened and is useful in the field of light electrical appliances. SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by formulating (B) 0.001-4 pts.wt. of a fibrous material (for example, it has 0.05-15μm fiber diameter, 2-100μm fiber length and >=5 aspect ratio) to (A) 100 pts.wt. of a styrene resin (for example, having 100,000 500,000, preferably 200,000-400,000 weight-average molecular weight). As the component B, are preferably used whiskers, particularly aluminum borate whiskers, and the use of the whiskers largely increases the strength and the elasticity of the composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polylactone polyol composition containing a protonic acid and/or a Lewis acid to promote the ring-opening polymerization of lactone and remarkably shorten the necessary reaction time. CONSTITUTION:The objective polylactone polyol composition contains one or more kinds of protonic acid and/or Lewis acid. The protonic acid is, e.g. acetic acid, propionic acid, linoleic acid, phthalic acid and dimethyl phosphite and preferably fatty acid. The Lewis acid is, e.g. aluminum trichloride and boron halide and the total amount of the acid to be added to the composition is 0.1-0.5%.
