Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to provide a lactone-based polyester polyol containing a low-molecular-weight compound in a small amount and to provide a high-quality polyurethane resin. The present invention provides a lactone-based polyester polyol having a cyclic lactone content of 0.05% by weight or less, and provides a process for producing a lactone-based polyester polyol, wherein the process comprises a first step of adding a cyclic lactone, a low-molecular-weight polyol and/or a polycarboxylic acid, and an esterification catalyst to a reaction system and making ring-opening addition or esterification of the cyclic lactone to proceed until conversion of the cyclic lactone reaches a predetermined level; and a second step of continuously feeding the reaction mixture to a thin-film evaporator and subjecting the reaction mixture to evaporation in the form of thin film, thereby removing a low-molecular-weight compound from the system.
Abstract:
A process for producing a lactone polyester/unsaturated monomer represented by the structural formula (1), characterized by reacting a carboxylated, radical-polymerizable, unsaturated monomer with a cyclic lactone in the presence of water added in an amount of 1 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the sum of the carboxylated, radical-polymerizable, unsaturated monomer and the cyclic lactone with the aid of an acid catalyst at ordinary pressure and subsequently conducting a dehydration reaction under vacuum so as to remove low-boiling matters to thereby form an ester linkage between the carboxylated, radical-polymerizable, unsaturated monomer and a lactone oligomer which is a by-product of a reaction initiated by the water added and reduce the hydroxy value to 5.0 mg-KOH/g or lower. Thus, a carboxy-terminated lactone polyester/unsaturated monomer of practical quality can be produced at low cost. Formula (1) (In the formula, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R7 each represents hydrogen or a substituent selected among C1-10 (un)substituted alkyl, (un)substituted aryl, (un)substituted alkoxycarbonyl, (un)substituted alkoxy, (un)substituted aryloxy, and halogeno; n is an integer of 1 to 7; and m is an integer of 1 to 100.)

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an unsaturated monomer bearing carboxy terminal group for lactonic polyester with practical product quality in low cost. SOLUTION: A radical-polymerizable unsaturated monomer bearing a carboxy group and a cyclic lactone are allowed to react with each other in the presence of water in an amount of 1-50 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the radial-polymerizable monomer bearing carboxy group and the cyclic lactone in total by using an acidic catalyst under normal pressure, followed by boiling under reduced pressure (reaction) to produce the unsaturated monomer for the lactonic polyester represented by structural formula (1). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an anticorrosive coating composition which solves the problem of the compatibility of an acrylic resin having excellent weather resistance with an epoxy resin or the like and has an excellent gloss holding property, by compounding an epoxy resin, a curing agent and a specific acrylic resin. SOLUTION: This anticorrosive coating composition comprises (A) an epoxy resin (an epoxy resin having two or more epoxy groups in the molecule and having an epoxy equivalent of preferably 150-600, more preferably 180-450, concretely a bisphenol type epoxy resin or the like), (B) a curing agent (a known epoxy resin curing agent, such as a polyamine-based curing agent), and (C) an acrylic resin having an acid value of >=15 [preferably an acrylic resin containing a monomer having a carboxyl group or a carboxyl group and a hydroxyl group (for example, acrylic acid or methacrylic acid) and further containing styrene in an amount of

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antifouling coating compsn. properly improved in adhesion to a substrate surface having a low chemical activity by incorporating a compd. having carbon-carbon double bonds and functional groups other than double bond in the molecule into a coating compsn. to be applied to a substrate of which at least the surface layer is a polyolefin layer. SOLUTION: An antifouling coating compsn. improved esp. in adhesion to the surface of a substrate comprising polyethylene, polypropylene, or the like is provided. The compd. to be compounded pref. has polydiene-derived carbon- carbon double bonds, and a suitable compd. is polybutadiene, polyisoprene, a styrene-butadiene-styrene copolymer, or a styrene-isoprene-styrene copolymer having part of polydiene-derived carbon-carbon double bonds epoxidized. Amino, carboxy, and hydroxy groups, etc., are listed as the functional groups other than epoxy group. A vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, an alkyd resin, etc., are used as the main film-forming components.
