Abstract: Treatment of water by crystalline pptn. and decantation, comprises forming a homogeneous dispersion of the water, the reactants required for the pptn. and sepd. sludge from previously treated water. The conc. of crystal nuclei is sufficient for the pptn. to be almost complete before the decantation stage and to be completed during decantation. Used for treating drinking and industrial water or aq. industrial effluent contg. chalk, lime, bicarbonate, sulphates, phosphates etc., the process enables accurate closing and distribution avoiding crusting up of walls, pipes, etc.
