Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a propylsilane functionalized at its 3 position. SOLUTION: This method for producing the propylsilane functionalized at its 3 position, comprising catalytically reacting an allyl compound of the formula: H2 C=CH-CH2 X with a silane of the formula: R R R SiH, is characterized by using the silane in an excessive amount of 3 to 100 times that of the allyl compound. Concretely, 3-chloropropyltrichlorosilane is synthesized by reacting trichlorosilane with allyl chloride in the presence of a platinum-adhered pulverized activated carbon catalyst.
