    Abstract: Trialkoxysilyl compounds in which one or two of the methoxy or alkoxy groups attached to silicon are replaced by larger groups, e.g. 9-30C alkyl, aryl, 2-30C alkyl(poly)ether or triorganosilyl are new. Organosilicon compounds of formula (I) and/or (II) are new. R = methyl or ethyl; R' = 9-30C alkyl or alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, 2-30C alkylether, 2-30C alkyl-polyether (all optionally branched) or R'''3Si; R'' = optionally unsaturated 1-30C aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic/aromatic hydrocarbylene; R''' = 1-30C alkyl or alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl; X = NH3-n with n = 1, 2 or 3 and m = 1, or OCOR' with n = m = 1, or SH with n = m = 1, or S with n = 2 and m = 1-10, or SCOR' with n = m = 1, or H with n = m = 1. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a method for the production of (I) and (II) by reacting trialkoxysilyl compounds of formula ((RO)3Si-R)n-Xm (III) with alcohols R'-OH, with continuous removal of the resulting R-OH by distillation; and (2) rubber mixtures containing rubber, filler etc. and at least one compound (I) and/or (II).

Sulfur-functional polyorganosiloxanes of formula (I), R -R = H, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl or haloalkoxy, phenyl, aryl or aralkyl; W = a group which can bond to silicic acid, preferably 1-4C alkoxy or haloalkoxy; Y = alkyl, haloalkyl, phenyl, aryl or aralkyl; Z = a 0-6C alkylidene group; A = a group which can form bonds with at least one elastomer in a rubber mixture, i.e. mercapto or thiocyanato if q = 1, or disulfide or polysulfide (Sx) if q = 2; x = 2-10; (k+m+n+p) = 3 or more; k = n = 0 (optionally). Independent claims are also included for (a) a process for the production of (I) by reacting compounds of formula (IV) with compounds of formula MSH, MSCN or M2Sx, or with M2S and sulfur, in an alcohol W-H at 20-150 degrees C under normal pressure, optionally with a catalyst, using compounds in which X = halogen; M = a metal ion; (b) rubber mixtures containing (I); (c) a process for the production of rubber mixtures by using (I) and other filler(s) in addition to rubber; (d) molded products obtained from these rubber mixtures.

    Abstract: Production of yellow bis-(3-(triethoxysilyl)-propyl)polysulfane (average sulfur chain length less than 4 and iodine color number no greater than 10 mg iodine/100 ml) comprises mixing neutral chloropropyltriethoxysilane with chloropropyltrichlorosilane and reaction with sodium sulfide and sulfur, disodium tetrasulfide and Nas2S or disodium trisulfide and Na2S in ethanol. A process for the production of yellow bis-(3-(triethoxysilyl)-propyl)polysulfone having an average sulfur chain length of less than 4 and an iodine color number of no greater than 10 mg iodine/100 ml comprises mixing neutral chloropropyltriethoxysilane with chloropropyltrichlorosilane followed by reaction with sodium sulfide (Na2S) and sulfur, disodium tetrasulfide (N2S4) and Nas2S or disodium trisulfide (Na2S3) and Na2S in ethanol.
