Abstract: 1,175,624. Zirconium silicate pigments. DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER SCHEIDEANSTALT. 10 March, 1967 [12 March, 1966], No. 11380/67. Heading C1M. Zirconium silicate pigments are produced by heating sodium zirconium silicate with an ammonium salt and a colour donating metal compound at 750 to 1300 C. The resulting pigment is ground and washed to remove sodium salts. Addition of a mineralizer, e.g. an alkaline earth metal halide or a lead compound may lower the temperature required for reaction and increase the colour intensity of the pigment. Colour donating metals specified are V, Pr, Fe, Cr, Bi, Ni and Co and they may be present in the anion of the ammonium salt.
